There is no doubt women are not treated like queens in the United States.

However, you claimed they were treated as queens in Turkey. No, they're not. Turkey is playing games to appease the EU people, not because it values it's women.

I said no such thing you lieing arsehole. I said women were revered as queens in islam (not by muslims) and my reference to Turkey was as an example of sharia coexisting with democracy.

If I was a muslim man of any country and an occupying nation had its troops on my soil, and it had a dubious record with womens' rights, I very much doubt I would see past the hypocrisy of that nation telling me my religion is also wrong. I doubt too that I would trust the institutions and credibility of such a nation.

Ok, I apologize then. Turkey sucks just like all other Islamic/Muslim countries that allow sharia law. I thought you were saying they were better. My bad.

Er guys ... I don't want to rain on your parade, but Turkey is a secular democracy and does not practice Sharia Law.

Well then how interesting that it was used as the example of sharia coexisting with democracy. See what happens when I give him any credit for knowing what he's talking about.

They do still have the little flareups about how to interpret sharia law and if it can be used, just like many other countries nowdays including yours and mine.

Err Quivv, all muslims follow Sharia, yes Turkey is secular which is why I put it forward as a state where Sharia & man made laws can happily coexist.

Quiver, I did some research after your post and found you to be right about Turkey. Thanks for the correction.

In March 2008, they moved to bar the Islamist Justice and Developmental Party form politics because they were trying to impose sharia law.
