Same from me. May the new year also bring the safe and swift homecoming of all our brave kids in Iraq.

A Happy, Prosperous, Fulfilling Peaceful and Contented New Year to you all!
Long may your lum reek!

Translation from Scots: May your chimney smoke for a long time yet.

LOL, FF ~ thanks for the [obviously needed] translation ~

And speaking of needing translation, here's a funny story [well, I think it's funny] that I told last night ~ my former firm had a London office, and we hired what the Brits call a "solicitor" to manage that office ~ he also happened to be a British Lord ~ David was in our Chicago office for meetings and as he was leaving for the day he said [quite clearly] "well then Sooz I'll knock you up at 1000am tomorrow" ~ luckily, I stopped myself before blurting out the first thing that jumped into my mind ~ my former boss was almost convulsed in laughter, mostly because he KNEW what I was thinking, but he finally said "that means he'll CALL you at 1000am tomorrow" ~ Image ~

LOL!
I once worked on a project dealing with kids excluded from school. One summer afternoon when met with the heads of various Social Work and Education departments to discuss the extraordinarily high exclusion rate of a local high school. As you may imagine the mood was fairly serious, someone was going to have to accept responsibility and offer a remedial plan.
The mood softened the instant my female colleague requested that someone open a window as she "tends to faint when in heat". Image

Cue 10 guys trying to stifle their laughs and failing miserably.

On the subject of New Year, We tried to punch a whole through the clouds in Edinburgh last night but without success, it's still damp and grey today.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7806767.stm
