Seems to me that the responsibility for not meeting eligibility requirements for a job falls squarely on Levi for quitting school ~ but not all that surprisingly, Sarah Palin tries to shift that responsibility to others ~ there were also reports this week that the arrest of Levi's mother on drug charges was delayed to "accommodate" Palin's election campaign ~ Palin may be doing/demanding/orchestrating things legally, but I find her personal ethics [and accompanying ego] HIGHLY questionable ~ Sooz

(CNN) - Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandchild Tripp and fiance of daughter Bristol, quit his job earlier this week after reports that his lack of a high school diploma made him ineligible for the apprentice position he'd held since fall.

Johnston's father Keith told the Anchorage Daily News that his son felt the move was "the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak," and that his son's missing educational qualification was "just something that slipped through the cracks."

"You guys are watching him so tightly," Johnston told the paper. "He's being treated different than an average 18-year-old kid. He has to do everything by the book now."

Palin herself called the report a "a political potshot taken at me," that could "destroy a young man's opportunity for work."

Palin stepped into the glare. She has to take the good with the bad.

She should also remember that her party brought the 'politics of personal destruction' to a fine edge over the last 20 years. The media has been trained to hone in on the foibles of people and magnify them to sell ad time. She has the GOP to thank for that.

Sooz, I think the phrase "might makes right, any means to an end, and the end justifies the means" is the operating phrase for the GOP.

They don't seem to understand that they are going to suffer for the very things they have made part and parcel of politics.

Palin is an embarrassment. I think that means she will go far in GOP politics.

Palin is such a narcissist. Political potshot at her? LOL! The media glare is on Johnston because of his relationship to her, but he dropped out of high school for God's sake and has an intership that requires a HS degree. I don't think anything fell through the cracks and he thought he merited special consideration due to his fame. Then Momma was arrested because of drug sales also enhancing the glare.

I think Palin is embarassing also, but she's got fans.

Thanks Sammy and Sooz.

I find it very easy to make fun of the republican party and it's supporters, not so much because of their politics, but because of their complete lack of understanding of how hypocritical they come across.

You get guys like David Vitter, who can't wait to sign on to any kind of 'family values' legislation. Even after they find his phone number in the DC Madam's little black book. Same thing with Larry Craig.

It's the GOP penchant for never seeing the hypocrisy of what they do that makes them an endless source of humor.
