This thread shows the need for specificity in the laws. Since the sex laws are made by the States the States need to be the ones to make certain crimes mandatory life sentences, if not death penalty for killing a child. Any sex act between 2 consenting adults in private should not be included as a crime. Exhibitionism for sexual gratification is a crime that should get stiff penalties (so to speak) especially if against a child. Sexual crimes against people who can not defend themselves should get life sentences. I think the States can make laws that don't include guys peeing on the side of the road and streakers as sex criminals. Streakers are exhibitionists but generally don't do it for sexual gratification. I think the states can make laws that do not treat consenting teenagers having sex with each other as sex criminals. Here in Texas we had to work very hard to get stricter laws against predators. I regret that the Supreme Court decided we can't kill child rapers.
I'd love it if the federal govt could tell who will be a danger if released. I don't trust them to do that and I don't see how the Constitution allows that. They certainly can't go by the behavior of the person in prison. As I said before, people like child molesters behave much differently around people who can defend themselves.
