During the 50s the Catholic Church had a stranglehold on Quebec. Then along came the "Quiet Revolution". The Catholic Church is still wondering about what hit them.

It's gotta be the cold winters... we're a pretty crazy bunch when the sun starts to shine after 6 months of darkness.

Winter just started today. We're snowed in and there are power outtages. Apparently, NS Power's wires suffered another gerbil attack.

Are you sure they're gerbils? They might be lemmings looking for a different way......

Hard to say. Since being privatised NS Power has had "squirrels eating the power lines", "carpenter ants" working their way through transmission towers (forgetting they were made of steel), mysterious "salty-air fogs" .... I reckoned the gerbils to be a perfectly plausible cause.
Nova Scotia is an entirely different world, Sid. Part of the parallel universe, I'd say.

A couple years ago  we had a problem with squirrels getting into the transformer box across the street.  Usually just as the sun came up, I would hear the big thud, the lights would go out, and the fried squirrel would fall to the ground out front.  Happened about once a week until BGE came and secured the box after a few months.
