That is [sadly] perfect, John ~ and [even more sadly] not likely to change ~ the part that I find so ironic is that Obama IS a moderate centrist ~ it's just that the country as a whole has been pushed so far right, that anything even minimally back towards the real center raises alarms and shrieks, thanks to fabricated and manipulated truth ~ Image

I don't agree that the country has been pushed so far to the right.  I don't think anywhere near a majority of Americans embrace the tenets of far rightism.

Well... speaking as a Soviet Kanuckistani - even our "right-wing" conservative party is considered to be "pinko communist" by many American "observers".

Sorry, gramps ~ my comment wasn't clear in expressing what I was thinking ~ I agree that nowhere "near a majority of Americans embrace the tenets of far rightism" ~ what I was thinking was the Supreme Court is clearly further right than center as are some of the current US policies still in place ~ and the fundamentalists, the far-right talking heads, and a significant number of prominent current R politicians will loudly battle [with fabricated and manipulated truth] any move towards center ~
