Report: Rush Limbaugh taken to Hawaii hospital
Dec. 30, 2009, 11:59PM

HONOLULU - Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was taken to a hospital with chest pains on Wednesday and was in serious condition, a Honolulu television station reported.

Paramedics responded to a call at 2:41 p.m. from the Kahala Hotel and Resort where Limbaugh is vacationing, KITV reported. The station, citing unnamed sources, said the 58-year-old Limbaugh was taken to The Queens Medical Center in Honolulu.

Kit Carson, Limbaugh's chief of staff, told The Associated Press from Milwaukee that he wasn't able to provide any information.

Queens spokeswoman N. Makana Shook said the hospital was unable to comment on the report.

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said paramedics took a male of unknown age to an area hospital from the Kahala Hotel and Resort. He said he had no further information.

Don't worry folks, cockroaches are hard to kill...

I wonder if his insurer considers oxycontin addiction a contributing, pre-existing condition and pulls his cover.
Meanwhile. back in the real world ......

I suspect his health coverage is through his employer's group plan, so he can't be dropped for a pre-existing condition. Image

So what are we guessing here Viagra overdose?

I hope he recovers and marries his 32 year-old fiance on the 4th of July as planned. He can then again demonstrate the power of the traditional marriage! #4 and counting!!!

So what are we guessing here Viagra overdose?

That's how Ted Kennedy got brain cancer, so it could be.

Actually they think Viagra helps TREAT brain cancer tumors, so who knows????

I don't remember Teddy having any doctor shopping prescription drug issues with bottles of Viagra issued in his doctor's name to protect his privacy. Wasn't that Rush? I understand though that Rush is all decent, moral, and role modelish (that is unless he's just an entertainer), and Teddy had Chappaquiddick so he's so good at all and never did anything positive in his life.

And so it goes.

I hope I feel as well as those wishing Limbaugh ill. Image

I'm not a fan of Limbaugh, or Kennedy in a political sense, but I did write Kennedy a letter wishing him well with his struggle with cancer.

I understand though that Rush is all decent, moral, and role modelish (that is unless he's just an entertainer), and Teddy had Chappaquiddick so he's so good at all and never did anything positive in his life.

You're the person making that claim, kathy.

No, I'm not and I did not wish him ill. I hoped he recovered to marry the 4th time this summer.

I guessed this as Viagra related due to his past history and pretty young fiance. In general, I don't wish anyone (even those I find repugnant) ill health or death,

However, I am not above Viagra jokes.

Nor am I above the occasional Viagra joke.

However, you are the person who brought the "Rush is all decent, moral, and role modelish (that is unless he's just an entertainer), and Teddy had Chappaquiddick so he's so good at all and never did anything positive in his life." claim into the discussion, out of the blue.

As a general practice, right-wingers bring Teddy Kennedy into discussions out of the blue for the purpose of demonization of liberals/dems/whatever fits. He had the Chappaquiddick incident and he drank so he is in standard operational rude chat fare a murdering drunk and less than human personage.

Also in standard practice right-wing chat fare Rush tells it like it is and is a strong personage or when he goes a little too far an entertainer; which ever best serves their purposes.

The practices are transparent, rude and most of all tired.

I admit that I don't like anything about Rush. I think he stirs a hate-filled pot. I don't like guys proselytizing against gay-marriage ranting that it is destroying the fabric of society when he's going into his 4th marriage himself. I personally am not a great fan of old guys and trophy wives either, but people marry or don't for their own reasons. Fine.

I don't demonize Kennedy for Chappaquiddick, as I believe that to be water under the bridge. I was never a politcal supporter of Kennedy's but I do respect him for his efforts to advance his political beliefs.

I don't hold that view, as I am critical and dismissive of Limbaugh.

Unless he's brought up by the right wing. Then, not a peep. Image

Citing Experience In Hawaii, Limbaugh Says U.S. Health Care System Is 'Just Dandy'

Image

Earlier this week, Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a hospital in Hawaii after he complained of chest pains and had reportedly been taken from his hotel "in serious condition." Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu released Limbaugh yesterday and during a press conference, the conservative radio host said his physicians did not know what caused his symptoms. "I wish I knew what it was," he said. Limbaugh also denied that he is again taking painkillers and praised the U.S. health care system based on his experience:

Quote:

Asked if he was taking painkillers, he flatly said "No," and added that he was taking Prednisone, a type of steroid used to treat inflammatory diseases. [...]

"The treatment I received here was the best that the world has to offer," Limbaugh said. "Based on what happened here to me, I don't think there's one thing wrong with the American health care system. It is working just fine, just dandy."

Of course Rush would probably think any health system is "just dandy," mainly because he is a multi-millionaire and can afford the best health care wherever he might be. But this is not the case for tens of millions of Americans who are unable to afford care or insurance due to the rising costs of health care in the U.S.

But it's also odd that Limbaugh would cite his experience in Hawaii as evidence that the U.S. health care system is "fine" seeing that Hawaii has already passed reform measures similar to those that Congress is currently considering as part of comprehensive reform - measures that Limbaugh has constantly been attacking.

The state enacted a measure in the 1970s mandating that employers provide "relatively generous health care benefits" to full-time employees (Congress is currently considering a similar provision is part of reform) and Hawaii now has one of the lowest rates of uninsured in the nation, and more access has provided space for innovation and brought down costs:

Quote:

Hawaii's health insurance premiums are nearly tied with North Dakota for the lowest in the country, and Medicare costs per beneficiary are the nation's lowest. [...]

With more people given access to care, hospital and insurance executives in Hawaii say they have been able to innovate efficiencies. For instance, the state's top three medical providers are adopting electronic medical records - years ahead of most mainland counterparts.

The Hawaii Medical Service Association, the state's largest insurer and a Blue Cross Blue Shield member, recently offered the nation's only statewide system whereby anyone for a nominal fee can talk by phone or e-mail, day or night, to doctors of their choosing.

Yet just two weeks ago, Limbaugh said those supporting health care reform are "mentally disturbed" and that "people are going to die" if reform ultimately passes.

Plus there wasn't anything WRONG with Limbaugh. They rushed him out of his luxury hotel and they took him to the hospital. They ran a couple tests and found nothing. Angioplasties are not exactly cutting edge.

Some people never learn.

Random thoughts:

1. I'm glad he's okay. If anything happened who would I have to kick around. He's like the non-existent Slobovian, someone you can make fun of without feeling guilty.

2. He's younger than I am. What the heck does he need viagara for?

3. I heard him lauding how well the American medical system worked. He just forgot to add "for any average hundred millionaire."

4. I think he was in the same hospital Obama was born in. I wonder if he thought to check for the birth certificate while he was there.
