"Evangelically" hateful, especially today ~Image~ Sooz

Haiti is now struggling to recover from a devastating earthquake that hit the island nation on Tuesday, with the death toll reaching far into the thousands. The disaster "
left the country in a shambles, tangling efforts to provide relief to an estimated 3 million people who the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said had been affected by the quake." Many aid groups, however, are also struggling with their own dead and wounded employees.

Today on his 700 Club television show, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson highlighted the tragedy and said that his network will be there "to help the people." However, he then tried to offer an explanation for the earthquake, blaming Haiti's own people for once making a "pact to the devil":

Quote:

ROBERTSON: [S]omething happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. Napoleon the Third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, "We will serve you if you get us free from the prince." True story. And so the devil said, "OK, it's a deal." They kicked the French out, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free.

But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle, on the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island.

They need to have, and we need to pray for them, a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I'm optimistic something good may come. But right now, we're helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable.

Watch it [above].

It's highly doubtful that Robertson knows anything about why the earthquake occurred. This is the same person who said that then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had a stroke in 2006 because he was "dividing God's land" and claimed that God sent Hurricane Katrina as punishment for the country's sins, such as legalized abortion.

(HT: Greg Mitchell and Political Carnival)

Update: Today, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh also said that President Obama will use the Haiti disaster to boost credibility with the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country."

Update:
Shortly after the September 11th terror attacks, Robertson agreed with fellow televangelist Jerry Falwell that the ACLU deserves to "take a lot of the blame for this." "You helped this happen," Falwell said of the civil rights group. "I totally concur," Robertson responded. "The problem is we adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government."

Update:
NBC's Joe Scarborough thinks it's ridiculous that journalists are calling attention to Robertson's comments, writing on Twitter, "MSM will now obsess over Pat Robertson's 'devil' comment but will pay no attention to his organization's remarkable relief work worldwide."

when you cross the line with shep smith fromfox news you know you have hit rock bottom

By Amanda Terkel at 4:41 pm

Shep Smith hits Robertson's 'devil' comments: The people of Haiti 'don't need that' at a time like this.

Today on his 700 Club broadcast, televangelist Pat Robertson said that the horrific earthquake that hit Haiti was a result of the country's "pact to the devil" "a long time ago." This afternoon on Fox News, Shep Smith did a segment on the devastation in the country and played a clip of Robertson's remarks, which he then sharply condemned:

Quote:

SMITH: The people of Haiti have been used and abused by their government over the years. They have dealt with unthinkable tragedy day in and day out. And we're in the middle of a crisis the Western Hemisphere has not seen in my lifetime, and 700 miles east of Miami, hundreds of thousands of desperate human beings need our help, our support, our money, and our love. And they don't need that.

People who believe what Pat Robertson believes are today gaining political power in America. Be very afraid.

I fear nothing... they should fear their own ignorance.

He probably knows better than the rest of us what happens when you make a pact with the devil...it's clear he sold his soul to the devil a long time ago.

Speaking on his radio show Wednesday, Limbaugh said the earthquake has played into Obama's hands, allowing the president to look "compassionate" and "humanitarian" while at the same time bolstering his standing in both the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country."

He added: "We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax."

I see the non-heart attack didn't affect the humanity.

Limbaugh is totally shameless ~ and totally shameful ~ Image~Sooz

Yesterday, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh controversially said that President Obama was going to try to use the devastating Haitian earthquake to boost his credibility with the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community" in the United States. He also argued against government aid for the nation. Today, a woman named "April" from Paducah, KY called into Limbaugh's show and asked where he got the "cojones" to make such statements. Limbaugh insisted that he never meant to discourage private donations to Haiti, but stood by his remarks that Obama will try to exploit the disaster for political gain:

Quote:

RUSH: No, I'm not evading it at all. If I said it I meant to say it, and I do believe that everything is political to this president. Everything this president sees is a political opportunity, including Haiti, and he will use it to burnish his credentials with minorities in this country and around the world, and to accuse Republicans of having no compassion. [...]

CALLER: [A]re you implying that the Huffington Post as the one and only resource that I [read]? I even watch Fox News once in a while.

RUSH: No, no, no, no, no. I'm not implying that. … What I'm illustrating here is that you're a blockhead. What I'm illustrating here is that you're a closed-minded bigot who is ill-informed. … And if you had listened to this program for a modicum of time you would know it. But instead you're a blockhead. You're mind is totally closed. You have tampons in your ears. Nothing is getting through other than the biased crap that you read.

Limbaugh also pointed out that it took Obama "three days to go out and talk about the Christmas Day underwear bomber," but "less than 18 hours to get out there and start rallying people about this earthquake." Listen here:

In May, Limbaugh commented on former President Bill Clinton's appointment as special envoy to Haiti by saying, "I'm just gonna tell you, if I was named envoy to Haiti, I'd quit government. Envoy to Haiti? You can't even pick up a prostitute down there without genuine fear of AIDS. This is not Clinton's place."

Update: In today's press briefing, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs commented on Limbaugh's remarks from yesterday: "In times of great crisis, there are always people who say stupid things. I don't know how anybody could sit where he does, having enjoyed the success that he has, and not feel some measure of sorrow for what has happened in Haiti."

The talk radio outrageousness bar has been raised in recent months by Beck and others. Limbaugh has to compete. Look for more of the same, and worse.

I guess I'm not the only one who thinks Robertson is possessed.

Televangelist Robertson Likely Possessed By Satan

by Valerie Tarico

It appears that televangelist Pat Robertson is in the thrall of Satan, according to spiritual warriors, Drs. Valerie Tarico and Marlene Winell. "It's the only possible explanation," said Tarico. "How else can we make sense of his repeated attempts to humiliate both God and Christianity in the wake of recent natural disasters."

Tarico spotted what she saw as a suspicious pattern after Robertson's recent remarks about Haiti. As people lay dying in the rubble of Tuesday's tragic earthquake and nations around the world scrambled disaster experts, Robertson spoke to the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club:" "Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it," "They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the Devil said, okay it's a deal." Robertson summed it up: "Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other."

Could this be the work of any old run-of-the-mill demon? "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven," said Tarico. "When Robertson blamed the Katrina disaster on God, and said He was punishing those poor gray-haired Black people for the sins of their gay neighbors, I thought it might just be human error. All we like sheep have gone astray, you know. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. But suddenly, when I read Robertson's remarks about Haiti, it was like a light blazed down from heaven and a voice spake saying, 'Behold, the Father of Lies.' I picked up the phone and called the only person more familiar with these problems than I am, Dr. Marlene Winell. She confirmed my worst fears."

We spoke with Dr. Winell in her Bay Area office. "Demons need a host, and they can jump from one person to another," she explained. "We know this because Jesus cast demons out of a possessed man and into a herd of pigs. The pigs drowned themselves, the same kind of self-destructive behavior we are seeing in Mr. Robertson. It is possible that he was infected at or around the funeral of Dr. Jerry Falwell. In hindsight we can see that Dr. Falwell was possessed by a similar--possibly the same-- demon."

Back in 2001, when the U.S. was reeling from the Twin Tower bombings, Falwell horrified Christians around the world by blaming the disaster on gays and woman who have had abortions. "The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked," Falwell said on The 700 Club television show. "And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen.'"

Could this be the work of any old run-of-the-mill demon? "I doubt it," said Winell. "Those remarks were broadcast to an enormous audience. Probably tens of thousands of people were turned off of Christianity and the Christian God. I think this is an organized media strategy by Satan himself. We're talking about Beelzebub, the Father of Lies. He's a marketing genius. This is the snake that sold Adam and Eve an apple in trade for paradise."

Winell went on to remind us that "Sarah Palin, as a prominent Christian could easily have been possessed by Satan, like Roberts, but she is deeply vigilant about spiritual warfare. She had the foresight to allow an African Minister to pray over her for protection against witchcraft. Now would be the time for Palin to help Robertson. With her connections, she could arrange an exorcism and then get him the same protection treatment." **

Our reporter pointed out that similar comments have been made by Islamic leaders about natural disasters: "A Saudi professor at Al-Imam University said the devastating tsunami that killed over 150,000 people was Allah's punishment for homosexuality and fornication at Christmastime."These great tragedies and collective punishments that are wiping out villages, towns, cities, and even entire countries are Allah's punishments of the people of these countries, even if they are Muslims," said sheik Fawzan Al-Fawzan. "

Both Tarico and Winell saw this as confirmation of their hypothesis. To quote Tarico, "'Anyone who listens to Reverend Hagee knows that Muslim leaders are controlled by Satan himself. And now you tell me they have been using words that are virtually identical to those of Falwell and Robertson?! Fawzan Al . . . It sounds a lot like Falwell, doesn't it. Look no further."

**Friends of Sarah Palin interested in helping Pat Robertson and defending the honor of Christianity can post this article on her wall at http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin.
