If true, this is mind-bogglingly HORRIFYING ~ but even as a hoax, it is unbelievably sociopathic ~ I have not gone to the mediatakeout website in search of the video ~ Sooz

Woman claims to have infected 500 people with HIV

DETROIT - Police are investigating whether a woman's online video claim that she intentionally infected more than 500 people in the Detroit area with HIV is real or a hoax.

The unidentified woman says in a nearly 11-minute video posted on mediatakeout.com that since contracting HIV in 1998, she has been "pretty upset" about having to "suffer," and has "set out to "destroy the world."

It is a felony in Michigan to knowingly transmit HIV.

Detroit police spokesman John Roach says the department has been receiving calls and tips over the past few days from people claiming to know the woman. They say she lives in Detroit.

Police also are asking possible victims to contact them.

Fred Mwangaguhunga, the Web site's editor, says the videotape was received electronically on Wednesday.

POLICE: Woman Admits to HIV Hoax

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police have located the woman who was seen in a viral video claiming to be infecting people with HIV. The 24-year-old woman says it was all a hoax and agreed to take a blood test which came back negative.

According to police, the woman says she is the woman in the YouTube video, but that the video is a hoax.

Detroit Police began investigating after a viral video surfaced showing a woman saying she knowingly infected more than 500 people with HIV since 1998.

The video was posted on the website YouTube. It shows an unidentified woman with the lower part of her face covered by a bandanna. In the video she says she is a "Serial Killer" and that she is spreading the virus because she is angry that a cure has not yet been found.

Police say it is unlikely that the woman will face any charges.
