John Edwards of North Carolina, former U.S. senator and Democratic presidential candidate, admits in a written statement to NBC's "Today" that he is the father of his former mistress Rielle Hunter's baby, Frances Quinn Hunter: "I am Quinn's father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves. It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter."

I don't actually care what his marriage was like. Elizabeth Edwards lost her 19 year-old, has terminal cancer, and has to put up with this bs. If he were involved in an affair, okay, that happens, but to drag a child into raises it to a different level.

The guy's a cad... period.

imho, once you cross the infidelity threshold you can go no lower, when you do it matter not, only that you did it. This is for me a black and white issue with no shades of grey. If one wishes to be married one does not cheat. If you wish to sleep around then get a damn divorce first. No ifs ands or buts.
