When a government starts trying to cancel dissent or avoid dissent is frankly when it's rapidly losing its moral authority to govern.
Stephen Harper, 2005

[/quote]Flash forward to 2008 and faced with the possibility of a perfectly legitimate coalition of opposition parties, Stephen Harper prorogued parliament, claiming the coalition was "illegal" and "sedition".

Flash forward again to December 2009, and faced with tough questions about Canada's complicity in Afghan prisoners being tortured and his government's knowledge, Stephen Harper once again prorogued parliament.

A definition:

Main Entry: pro·rogue
Pronunciation: \prÉ™-'rÅ

Well, it's somewhat comforting to me as an American to know that we are not alone with egotistical, arrogant politicians ~ altho I easily admit that I'm mighty tired of this surreal, parallel universe I keep waking up in ~ Image

Sooz... our Prime Minister has openly claimed that "the public doesn't care", or "They're more interested in the Olympics" or, "we get more done without parliament"... the public isn't buying it this time around. We are getting tired of the rules of Parliament being used to bludgeon dissent or opposition. This Prime Minister just doesn't hear it.

He's attempting to stifle dissent and opposition but normally non-exitable Canadians staged demonstrations yesterday.

I heard that over 6,000 showed up in Toronto.  I don't know how many were in Ottawa.  There were also some at Harper's constituency office.
