... we had decided to buy some small turkeys and all the trimmings and cook up some X-Mas dinners for families who can't afford such a luxury and for shut-ins. As soon as our local pub owners heard about it they offered up their kitchen/cooks and waitstaff to execute the project. The town will be giving us a list of those in need next week. It should a whole lotta fun doing this.

We're gonna have a blast doing it, Sid.
And since we're a "town" of under 1,000 in population we aren't talking about a huge endeavour.

Seeing how you live in a hamlet... shouldn't you consider having little hams?

Unless the other 998 people hear about and want to be 'gifted' ~ Image ~ seriously tho, oskar, that is a truly wonderful and very generous/very thoughtful idea ~ not sure if you're using your own recipes or the cooks' recipes ~ but I'm happy to post my grandmother's super-duper sweet potatoes recipe if you're interested ~

Sorry, no sweet potatoes. Local stuff only and sweet potatoes ain't one of those.
As far as "recipes" go, very few of us use them... except for sweet goods. Those are more about chemistry than food in my books.
Can you tell I'm not a big desert eater?

Oh, and everybody will be getting some apple cider - either hard or not. We live in apple country. That was a donation from bro-in-law.

Oskar, so very cool that you are doing this.  But you gotta have some kind of dessert to finish off the holiday meal. Pies or fancy cookies at least.

Thanks, but it really isn't a biggie. We aren't talking about a large group of people who will be getting the turkey dinners. Heck, around here when 20 people are involved in something (and that's what it's working out to be - so far) it's almost as many volunteers as there are recipients.

The best Christmas day I ever had was volunteering  at a local mission centre in Ontario about 5 years ago. We all had a wonderful day filled with food, music and lots of huggs....Cheers!
