Wanna bet these guys 'dress' to the right, too? ~ Image ~ Sooz

RIGHT GOES AFTER OBAMA OVER NATIONAL MOTTO.... About a month ago, President Obama delivered a speech at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, and included a line in his remarks that seemed wholly unremarkable: "In the United States, our motto is E pluribus unum -- out of many, one."

Of all the things for the right to complain about, they're actually raising a fuss about this.

Quote:

Members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus have criticized President Barack Obama for telling an audience in Indonesia last month that the phrase "E Pluribus Unum" is a good summary of the American experience.

The Prayer Caucus, led by U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.), wrote to Obama today complaining that he called "E Pluribus Unum" the national motto during a Nov. 10 speech at a university in Jakarta. The national motto, the caucus insists, is actually "In God We Trust."

The Congressional Prayer Caucus' letter insisted to the president that he's "casting aside an integral part of American society," by "removing one of the cornerstones of our secure freedom." The caucus added, "If we pull the thread of religious conviction out of the marketplace of ideas, we unravel the tapestry of freedom that birthed America."

The members of Congress went on request that the president "issue a correction to the speech."

Seriously.

What's more, conservative and Republican activists actually seem to care about this. Fox News ran an item, as did TV preacher Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network. Conservative blogger Ed Morrissey is outraged, or at least pretending to be, asking whether "high schools in Hawaii actually teach civics."

Remember, these folks aren't kidding. The president referenced E pluribus unum as our motto, and quite a few conservatives really are throwing a fit.

For the record, U.S. leaders chose E pluribus unum as the motto on the Great Seal of the United States in 1782, and was the country's unofficial motto for nearly two centuries. That changed in 1956 when, as some kind of symbolic Cold War gesture, Congress chose "In God We Trust" as the official national motto. Both phrases appear on U.S. currency.

That this is a subject the right deems worthy of whining suggests conservatives have far too much time on their hands.

"... dress to the right..."

"... too much time on their hands..."

Now you know why they are such master baiters.

I find it startling in the extreme that so many Rs [and apparently one D] all seem to be suffering from savant syndrome ~ Image ~ the letter is long, so I'll c/p it into the next post ~ Sooz

On November 10, President Obama addressed a crowd at the University of Indonesia about a “shared humanityâ€

Acrobat Reader has a copy/paste function built-in. You can select a region of the page or the entire page > right-click > "Save Image As...". It also has a "Text Select" tool but that wouldn't work for this as the original files embedded in the PDF is a graphic image and not something generated by a word processor.

Once again...the idiots feel the need to make sure I don't harbor the illusion that I count- in any way shape or form- as an American. I am so sick of this BS.

So PDF is actually an object format?

PDF means "Portable Document File" and until a few years ago Acrobat (not to be confused with Acrobat READER) was the sole program to be able to generate them. It's used like a printer driver and if you have Acrobat installed, anything that can be printed can be made into a PDF file. The idea was to be able to send someone a "Word" (.doc) file and they could read and print it without having "Word" or the fonts installed that make up the document. There are other free programs that can generate PDF files now and you don't need Acrobat.

I have Acrobat Pro CS3 on one machine and Cute PDF on the other. Cute PDF is free and works pretty much the same way as Acrobat. If you want to embed a Word doc or an image file into PDF, you go to "File > Print..." and select the PDF program you have installed.

Here's a link to Cute PDF: http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp

Ok. Thanks.
There are also some free programs that will convert PDF back to .doc
