If the "Virgin Mary" myth is to be believed, is she not a rape victim?
After all, there's no record of any consent being given.
Conversely, if consent was given, did she not be commit adultery?

I believe the story goes that an angel appeared to Mary to tell her that she was chosen by god to be the mother of his son and she agreed to it.  So no, it wasn't rape.

My only excuse is that I'm just now having my first cup of coffee ~ whatever the story is, 'virgin' implies no sexual intercourse ~ but I'm not following why it would be adultery ~

Here's another question that raced thru my own mind for some bizarre reason while I was thinking about oskar's question: since every nun wears a wedding band signifying her marriage to God, does that make God a bigamist? ~ Image

As to adultery, I thought Mary was "betrothed" to Joseph, but they weren't actually married yet when she got preggers?

Nope!  In those days, as soon as a man was betrothed he was consiered the woman's husband.

However, since Mary was only thirteen or fourteen at the time, doesn't that make God a pedophile?

What gets me is that the same people who find it reasonable to think that a virgin woman could give birth deny there is evidence for evolution.
