I'm not surprised at this reaction ~ if the Ds themselves had not chickened out of confronting this issue before the election, we might not be in this position today ~ I've been thinking and reading a lot for the past couple of days, mostly because I've been rabidly angry, especially about this and about DADT ~ but ... focusing strictly on the tax issue, when the 'deal' is viewed in its entirety, it's a decent deal ~ far better in fact than I thought possible/probable ~ I am not and will never be in favor of extending the tax cuts to the wealthiest, at least not while the economy is still so tenuous ~ nor will I ever respect the Rs childish mindset, gaming tactics, ugly behavior, lack of compassion, or lack of simple human decency in refusing to extend unemployment benefits to the millions still out work, thru no fault of their own but rather thanks to R policies, without a payback for the wealthiest ~ but the 'deal' is buying a LOT of 'security' for the millions of truly desperate people who need it the most ~ I don't see Obama as 'caving' ~ I see him as fulfilling his promise and his duty to protect all Americans ~
