Gunman opens fire at school board meeting in Panama City

ORLANDO -- 
A school superintendent on the Florida Panhandle who calmly confronted a gunman who threatened to shoot him during a board meeting said God protected him when the man opened fire.

Bay County school Superintendent Bill Husfelt told the Associated Press that Tuesday's confrontation with Clay Duke seemed “surreal.â€

I read that the gun was loaded with blanks.  I also read that a board member hit the gunman with her purse (LOL, how stupid unless it was filled with bricks) and that is when he started shooting.

Duke told the board he was upset that his wife had lost her job, apparently with the district,

And that's all I've heard. Hours of discussion around "should the video be shown on TV?", but so far it seems no reporter has found it newsworthy to look into the situation that led to the wife losing her job. Seems a rather important detail to overlook, IMO.

(Not that it can justify what he did in any way.)

Could be. I'm just saying what I read almost immediately after it happened.
