They're trying to do it in the U.S.  on home soil, too.  Hold simulated grass roots demonstrations against the democratically elected government.  Painting Obama as a socialist.

john pilger recently made a high profile donation to Assage's legal defense fund.  i had not heard his name in six months before that.

i was very much impressed with how robust the press is in Venezuela.  there are literally a dozen outlets that go after Chavez every day the way FOX does in the US.

I hadn't heard of this film until 2 days ago. We watched it last night (online at the link).
As you know, I'm not the world's biggest fan of the US but now it's complete and utter disgust. Not much different than Hitler's Nazis or Stalin's Soviet Union, but a whole lot sneakier and underhanded.

In his latest column for the New Statesman, John Pilger traces the history of propaganda to Edward Bernays, the American nephew of Sigmund Freud, who invented the term "public relations". Bernays believed in "engineering public consent" and creating "false realties" as news. Here are examples of how this works today.

Edward Bernays, the American nephew of Sigmund Freud, is said to have invented modern propaganda. During the first world war, he was one of a group of influential liberals who mounted a secret government campaign to persuade reluctant Americans to send an army to the bloodbath in Europe. In his book, Propaganda, published in 1928, Bernays wrote that the “intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses was an important element in democratic societyâ€

In Obama's book, "Dreams of My Father", he mentions going to work for firm of "consultants to multinational corporations". He fails to name the firm.
The company was Business International Corporation and it was indeed a consultant to international corporations. It was, however, frequently a front for the CIA.

From April 28/08 to Oct. 1/08 there were 99 votes in the US Senate.
Obama voted only 20 times. Why is that?
