Bill O'Reilly thinks that we don't know what causes tides.

O'REILLY: I'll tell you why [religion's] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can't explain that.

SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?

O'REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can't explain that.

Obviously the moon has something to do with all of these events.  I think it's O'Reilly's time of the month again.

Gee... all this time I thought it had to do with the position of the moon relative to the Earth but it turns out it's really "Splish Splash God's Takin' A Bath"....

That O'Really character is a real piece o' work ain't he?

I think he was stunned into silence by the stupidity being tossed at him.

Nice entry John, but I believe the contest will heat up over the next 11 months...

I would have to, macro. I don't know if he didn't know or if he didn't think it worth mentioning. He did say, "It doesn't matter if I can explain it."

What a missed opportunity to point out that religion was created to explain phenomena to goat herders what today's science (or in this specific case yesterday's science) can explain without invoking some bearded man in the sky!
I think the guy was following a different line of thought and never realized Billo's ignorance.

He could have been afraid of coming across as a snob.  Athiests get accused of that.
