I can't get this video to embed but it's worth a watch:

And these are the people who are entrusted to put an "X" next to their choice for president.

GOD HELP US ALL!

ps- i am betting that most of those people DON'T VOTE. if you want an explanation of why, you can compare % of voters to educational level, and it becomes clear right away.

I think Macro's right.  There are lots of smart people who can't imagine why anything that happens outside the borders of their neighborhood should concern them.  They're not wise, but not necessarily unintelligent...just incurious.  Of course, I think incuriosity and mediocre cognition are closely correlated.   For most citizenship puposes those people are useless.

and for the record, i am not saying we have an informed electorate.  i am saying that there is a difference between provincial and stupid.

I agree with gramps here, atho I would add 'self-absorbed' as an element of 'incurious' ~

Mac, for me, inbetween 'provincial' and 'stupid' is voluntary ignorance ~ and I see voluntary ignorance as a personal choice, disgraceful, and potentially dangerous ~

i think stupid and ignorant are different, too.  you can have smart people that are never exposed to things.  i have seen it.

He's very good at that. His "pretend" stupid statements have made thousands of dollars for several authors- well I'm not sure authors is the right word- more like compilers-
just list all his stupid statements and publish them.  There were enough to fill several "books".
