This is a very big deal here in Chicago ~ it is, I believe, the single oldest rivalry in the NFL ~ and it has been 70 years [all the way back to Sid Luckman days] since the Bears and the Packers battled for the division title ~ I would say today's 'Bears weather' [very cold, sunny, light winds 5-10mph, occasional light snow showers in the mix] gives the Bears an edge except that the Packers are equally accumstomed to playing in outdoor winter conditions ~ here's an interesting factoid I learned this week: Soldiers' Field has 40 miles of hot water tubing buried 8" below the turf to keep the playing field from feeling like concrete ~ predicted temp at kick-off is 18* ~

The teams are very evenly matched ~ and the Bears only 'edge' is that we are playing at home ~ I'm hopeful the Bears will win, but I'm thinking it's likely to be a very tough and very close game ~ I'll take the Bears by 3 ~

I'm rooting for the Packers because Aaron Rodgers grew up in my wife's hometown of Chico, CA.  On top of that, he seems like a genuinely good guy.  I think the Packers will win by 7+.

I've never been a Bears fan, but if they win today, I'll root for them in the Super Bowl.  I don't think they are good enough to win both of these games, though.  Their offense just isn't reliable enough to be able to score against a very good defense.

It will be close to hockey by the ends of the games.  They will just be playing on cleats instead of skates.

Green Bay wins by 7.  (Gop, you're good!) Hell of a game.
But how about that new Bears quarterback!

Packers win ~ 21-14 ~ Packers played an excellent game ~ Cutler was out the 2d half with a knee injury ~ Collins, the back-up qb, came VERY close to throwing 2 interceptions and was pulled from the game toward the end of the 3d quarter ~ Caleb Hanie, the Bears 3d string qb, did MUCH better than Cutler or Collins and was responsible for all 14 Bears points ~

I'll root for the Packers in the Super Bowl [it's the 'neighborly' thing to do, rivalry be damned ~ Image] ~ which I hope will be Packers/Jets ~

The Packers defense save the game for Green Bay, since it certainly was not the offense... I was rooting for GB...
