i think Romney is still going to be tough competition for Obama. he has a national organization, he is very careful in public and makes few mistakes, and he has credentials as a moderate which, although not appealing to the GOP base, are very appealing to independents and disgruntled Democrats. if any of you think that Obama is just going to waltz into a second term, you should think again.

I agree. Obama's main hope, if Romney's the opponent, is that enough Republicans don't like him very much

I think Bill Clinton will campaign for Obama and we all know how Clinton can bring out the voters.

he really needs Bubba in the South.  Florida, for example, has been trending Democrat for a while now.  Clinton could be very helpful in that state.

Obama's approval rating has gone up several points this week ~ I'm thinking the GOP/TP's unquenchable overreach has finally resonated with the public ~

It's got to be a little more than telling when Ron Paul is polling ahead of the rest of the republiteaparty.

this one is also interesting:

note that Democrats really have not gained any support in the last year.  but the GOP has lost ground steadily.

Ron Paul might very well win Iowa, and he is polling well in NH.
but he is going to have a very difficult time in the South.  as will Romney.

It's looking more and more like a "who stays home" election - or - who has to hold their nose tighter when they cast their ballot.

That one's a bit tougher.
Folks are P.O.d at Congress Critters but it seems to be at Congress in general but not against they're local guy.

general sentiment has a big effect on composition of congress.  for example, in 2010, the GOP was +6% in this poll.  the fact that they are -2% now is a huge deal.
