This assessment strikes me as just about right ~ for me, Del hit a bull's-eye with his comment in the Just Two More Days until Xmas thread: "Would I be offended if someone wished me a happy Hannukah, Kwanzaa, (insert any other non-Christen celebration here), etc....? NO! I would take it as a compliment to be included in something an individual holds so important." ~ I do confess tho that I get thoroughly pissed off when my favorite oldies radio station that I listen to in the car begins its 24/7 Christmas music only orgy on November 1st! ~ Sooz

I heard from my oldest that it's a trend down South amongst the Baptists to nix Santa from Christmas. So, if the right-winged wackos can kill Santa, then I can bitch about their tacky plastic baby Jesus if it's in on government property Image

No it wouldn't. It would be plastic. But I guess it would be more honest if it were a golden calf.

The War on Christmas proponents are just using pretend martyrdom as a tool of oppression.  They aren't trying to preserve Christmas.  It's not under threat.  Rather they are trying to have Christmas and Christianity overpower all the other religious celebrations that take place at this time of year.

somewhere in the bible it sez something about   "those who suffer for my name's sake...and...ye shall be persecuted for my name's sake...."

The zealots  have to keep crossing the lines of respect for others and demands for preferential, supportive, protective treatment no afforded to others, in order to have such demands refused, and they can then claim that they have been "reviled, or persecuted..."

Instance:   We've had this country surviving quite a few wars and quite a few  trials of its people without there being the Ten Commandments carved upon government building walls.   The last war we actually WON, was WON without the words "under God," in the pledge of allegience.

The "loyalty OATH," did not uncover one single communist spy who  said, "Oh, I can't take that loyalty oath.   I'm not loyal the the USA?"

"Roe v. Wade." did not increase abortion.  It just made it safer and more women survived the procedure, and lived to have other children when it was safer or they were able to offer a child a better life.

The "In God We Trust," did not make  the greed any less.  In fact, it has become  outrageously more pronounced since "God" was stamped on our filthy money.  Does any other free or tyrannical  country actually put religious sentiments on their money?  They put kings, or queens, or tyrants and dictators on their money, not God.

We can have it mandated that the word GOD be tattooed on the behinds or foreheads of every baby born a US citizen.  I don't think it would be of a single benefit to mankind, or US citizens, other than to tattoo artists.

The fake war on Christmas is being played for the benefit of insecure Christians who    think they need to fulfill one of Jesus' prophecies.

Something like, "Ye shall be reviled for my names sake."

Or, "Yes shall be persecuted for my name's sake."

Many places in the Bible, there appear the words, ".....in order that the prophesy be fulfilled....."  This  means that in many cases, prophecies written centuries ago are controlling factors in the behaviours of people living in an entirely different circumstance, and  five  thousand or one thousand year old prophecies being "fulfilled" are totally ridiculous and have no derivation from a goodly supernatural being.  They are being acted upon by humans attempting to elevate themselves by fulfilling such prophecies.   There is no suffering and no injury to a divine entity because people have become fed up with the commercialisation of the material celebration of  the birth of a alleged  semi-divine  individual.  Christ did not arrive holding a Christmas tree or a credit card from Macy's.

If you go back through history you will find preachers have been looking about them and seeing the requirements for the prophesies being fulfilled in their time.  I suspect the preachers a thousand years in the future will be doing the same thing.

LOL! You made me spit my coffee! Image

I have another suggestion about stamping "God" on the tush of every newborn. How about they stamp "Made in the USA"? Then at checkpoints or stops, you'd just have to drop your drawers to prove you're a citizen. Image

That reminds me of a joke...

Three nurses are talking about a patient in room 502.

The first nurse says "You know, when I gave him his sponge bath, I noticed he had "Swan" tatooed on his penis."

The other two nurses scoffed at the idea but nurse #2 decided to check it out. She comes back out and says "Yeah! He does have "Swan" tatooed there!"

The third nurse still doesn't believe it so she goes to check it out. Several minutes turns into a half hour and she comes out - straightening her blouse and mussing with her hair and says "It doesn't say "Swan" - it says "Saskatchewan"!
