The Iowa caucus is @a week away ~ January 3d, I think ~ each of the candidates listed below [am I missing anyone?], with the exception of Jon Huntsman, has had her/his "day in the Iowa sun" ~ we could do a simple poll: who do you think will win in Iowa? ~ or we could make it a bit tougher: list the candidates in order, from winner to loser ~ anyone game? ~ the only "prize" is bragging rights ~ Sooz

Michele Bachmann
Newt Gingrich
Jon Huntsman
Ron Paul
Rick Perry
Mitt Romney
Rick Santorum

Edit to add Rick Perry ~ thanks, Kath ~ apparently I've subconsciously eliminated him ~ Image ~ Sooz

Even as a kid, I never liked clowns.

I'm going to go with Romney in Iowa and New Hampshire.  After that, it's going to get interesting.  The right wing of the party is going to get very excited.  They don't trust Romney - with just cause since he's got more positions than a mining camp hooker on payday.  Besides he's a Mormon.  Romney's also smart enough to know he's got to keep his eye on the big prize and is going to have to lurch to the left pretty quick if he wants to be President.  That means the rightwing is going to coalesce around and bring their not inconsiderable noise making, organizing and funding to one favored, "anybody but Mitt" candidate.  My guess is that it will be Rick Perry.  He's got a couple of warts on his record and doesn't do well in debates but he's a true believer who has put what he preaches into practice and has shown himself to be electable - at least in the Red States.  None of the others can make that claim.

At the end of the process I wouldn't be surprised to see Perry as the Gop candidate.

I thought Huntsman wasn't participating in the Iowa caucus.

I'm predicting Romney for the win.  I think Bachmann will be on the bottom.

I honestly don't see Perry even coming in second or third in Iowa.   In New Hampshire I think he will be on the bottom.

Someone should change their name to "None of the above". They would win.

You're most likely exactly right  correct, Sid ~ Image

Okay, I've been waffling on my own picks ~ but here is what would not surprise me
:

Mitt Romney [or Ron Paul]
Ron Paul [or Mitt Romney]
Rick Santorum
Rick Perry
Newt Gingrich
Michelle Bachmann
Jon Huntsman

I am just bumping this up so it doesn't get lost at the bottom since Tuesday is around the corner.

Does "Any or none of the above depending on which way the wind is blowing... or not" count?

I don't see any of the candidates count as much.  It would not surprise me to see a low turnout because I don't think true conservatives really want to throw their support behind any of the ones running.  Maybe I am just looking at this wrong though.

The toe-the-party-line crowd will show up. It's the independants who will likely flock to Obama over any of this lot.

Mitt Romney
Ron Paul
Rick Santorum
Newt Gingrich
Rick Perry
Michele Bachmann
Jon Huntsman

The top 2 could switch!

Where's Herman Cain? Can they write in at their caucus?

Didn't you know? Hollywood has cast a new lineup for a remake of The Three Stooges.

Shouldn't that be 7 Stooges with cameo apperances by Palin, Cain, Trump and the rest of them?

ok, reviewing the polling data on the last day, here is what i see:

there are only two candidates gaining ground, Romney and Santorum. i think Romney has enough of a lead (about 5% with 10% undecided) to win, but it is going to be VERY close. i really don't see any way that Santorum can win, but i think that Paul can.
