If a hypothetical grade one teacher, working for a hypothetically cash strapped school board, hypothetically pirated a number of books to use on her hypothetical smartboard to help some hypothetical six year olds learn to read....
Would that be wrong?

If a hypothetical father, who earns minimum wage, hypothetically broke into your home to steal food out of your refrigerator to help some hypothetical poor children living in a nearby motel....
Would that be wrong?
These are just variations on Robin Hood: Is it wrong to steal from the rich to give to the poor?
In my opinion, the answer is "yes" -- it is always wrong to take something that doesn't belong to you. The right thing to do is to ASK the people you would have stolen from if they wouldn't mind making a donation to those poor people. It's THEIR property, so it should be THEIR decision.
Pirating a book, or taking food from a refrigerator, is stealing. Stealing is stealing. And stealing is wrong -- because you have no right to take something that doesn't belong to you.
