Still not enough to overcome the general apathy, IMO.
As for the Kochs and their ilk, they'll simply wait for another day.

i think apathy and the fact that government rarely entertains the interests of the electorate are closely paired.

The electorate for the most part do not really understand the issues. Social conservatives hear the word Conservative and they equate it with Christian, godly, family values and goodness. Liberals are godless, sexually promiscuous, gay and all the criminals out there. Everything wrong with society.

Conservatives are milk and cookies moms with wholesome kids and liberals are the moms who have kids to four different men. They let their kids run wild and get the free breakfasts and lunches at school.

The media doesn't help in they continue to support some of these myths.

Your biggest problem is the Koch Brothers. Deal with them and then you can deal with a lot of the other problems very quickly.

The Koch Brothers fund the Tea Party in the US. But they are also engaged in a concerted effort to affect American Foreign Policy by funding and supporting right-wing political parties in other countries - particularly Canada where they fund "right-wing think tanks" (talk about an oxymoron) that in turn support the CONservative "government".

This is what fascism looks like. Deal with them or get used to their poison.

Republicans need to face the music and toss the Tea Partiers out on their arses. Of course, they would then need to rebuild the Party and formulate rational policies.
They clearly haven't the cojones to do it.

That would mean tossing out thirty years of their big lie and all their right-wing conservative memes.

Your asking them to have a religious experience and I don't know if that's even possible.

Watch heckler call Sarah Palin an idiot as she decries use of vets as political pawns
By Travis Gettys
Thursday, October 17, 2013 11:14 EDT

A former half-term governor of Alaska and failed vice presidential candidate was heckled throughout her speech earlier this week in front of a war memorial.

Sarah Palin, most recently a reality show star and Fox News contributor, joined Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and other Republicans on Sunday in protesting federal landmarks that were closed as part of the GOP-engineered government shutdown.

Hecklers repeatedly urged her to go home and pointed out that Republicans shut down the government as she tried to make a point about respecting veterans.

“This is a matter of shutdown priorities,” Palin said, shortly before she was interrupted by a particularly loud heckler standing a few feet in front of her.

“You’re an idiot,” the man bellowed, turning the heads of conservative figures standing behind her and drawing amused chuckles. Palin paused briefly before continuing her remarks.

“Our vets have proven that they have not been timid, we will not be timid in calling out any who would use our military, our vets, as pawns in a political game,” Palin said.
