Russia is facing the same problem as our juniors: inadequate coaching
Hockey Canada has turned into an old boys club whose main interest is in perpetuating their own myths than in developing a solid hockey program.
Interesting coincidence is that we haven't won gold since the CONservatives came to power.

Watching the games made that quite obvious.
Spott, Team Canada's coach, has made a career of finishing second or third, never first.
Binnington was hot in goals so he starts Subban - big mistake.
Drouin and Mckinnon play together on the same line for Halifax and are tearing up the league. He separates them and hardly plays Nckinnon.
That's bad coaching.

Thanks Oskar. I have a tough time accepting that Canada has fallen out of dominance in Junior hockey but your assessment of the coaching makes sense.

Our players are generally as good or better than most, so what's left?
Well over 50% of the players in the NHL are Canadians and less than 50% are from the rest of the world even though Canada accounts for something like 1/2% of the world's population... ok, so Angola doesn't count as a hockey powerhouse. ;)
