I stumbled on this great show with Betty White (who just turned 91 on Thursday) that is hysterically funny and I recommend everyone check it out. It's called Betty White's Off Their Rockers. It's similar to Candid Camera. Betty and the seniors play (harmless) pranks on young folks as their reactions are caught on camera. It's on NBC and is currently airing on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8/7c and 8:30/7:30c, although I believe the regular timeslot is Tuesdays at 8/7c.

For instance, one prank involved a college student sitting on a sidewalk bus bench talking on his cell phone. A senior, pretending to be a restaurant waiter, walked to him and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, we don't allow cell phone use here." He then handed him a menu and said, "I'll be back in a few minute to take your order." Then he walked away. The reaction of the college student was priceless as he looked all around him, trying to figure out how his sitting on a bus bench could be part of some restaurant! Image

Another situation had a senior stopping a young woman on a sidewalk and asking, "Miss, excuse me, do you know where the Riverdale Library is?" The woman replied, "Oh, sorry, I don't. I only moved to this area three weeks ago." The senior then said, "Oh, well, you go down this boulevard for 2 miles, turn left on 4th Street, then go 3 blocks. You can't miss it Here's a map with the route highlighted. So now you know where it is!" As he walked away, the woman was in shock. She stuck the map in her purse and went on her way. Image

A third situation had a senior approach a young couple sitting at an outdoor table. He sat down next to them and handed a young woman a small computer chip. In a whispered voice he said, "Agent So-And-So, here are your new orders. After your carry out your assignment, we're to rendezvous in Switzerland on Tuesday." Then he walked away. The young lady and her boyfriend then both began laughing. The boyfriend said, "Oh, I have to Tweet this!" Then he took a photo of the computer chip and began typing away. Image

Check the show out. It's very funny!

I watched it once and wasn't impressed. That was the very first show, I think. I'll give it another whirl.

I consider Betty White "a national treasure" ~ while the show is cute, it's not on my "don't miss" list [which, admittedly, is very short this year] ~

I don't have one.
Even NHL hockey has fallen off it.

I like shows like this, and Candid Camera and America's Funniest Videos because we're seeing real people's real reactions to bizarre situations -- as opposed to situtation comedies where everything is fake, and we don't know if people would truly react as the writers have their characters react.

Worse yet: "reality" TV

I like prank shows but I don't have cable TV.

It's not on cable. It's on NBC (which you can get over-the-air).

We get it in my part of Canada. I like it. My favorite skit is the one where the old guy with a map is asking the young women how to find the "G" Spot his wife keeps talking about.

Hubby watches this show every time it's on. He loves it. I watch it with him when I am not reading but I spend more time reading than about anything else.
