There are two ways to even out income inequality. One is to raise those on the bottom. The other is to drag down those at the top. Increasing taxes only accomplishes the second.

The other is to drag down those at the top and raise those on the bottom.
Increasing taxes on the top earners accomplishes that.

What is wrong with those "former university professors" and "current actuaries"?

I'm thinking economics is not her/his best field ~ or, sadly, maybe it is ~ either way, the comments explain why s/he is a "former university professor" ~ :ey

I think there's a lot of wishful thinking involved with his online resume...

Its a kind of irony really. He's relying on a kindergarten version of "free-market" economics. Not only is his view clearly and oviously empirically false (and would have Adam Smith spinning in his grave) its also self-contradictory. What he doesn't seem to recognise is that he is putting forward a moral claim, while at the same time denying the moral claims everyone else makes.

Maybe someone should point out to him that Adam Smith was a Professor of Moral Philosophy.

What picture are the Atheists gonna put up next to an imagined image of Jesus? A picture of nothingness?

LOL, jab ~ maybe so ~ :b

Back in VoC's early days in MSN, we had a member who was "challenged" mentally ~ that's not a snarky remark, it's a statement of fact ~ anyway, another VoC member at the time [who happened to be very smart] used the Niemoller poem in trying to explain the dangers of bigotry ~ the "challenged" member somehow managed to interpret the explanatory post as a death threat ~ and he reported us to MSN ~ after an exchange of emails with MSN staff, MSN suggested we boot the "challenged" member ~ when we posted our email exchange with MSN, the "challenged" member booted himself ~ :b ~ and FTR, that "challenged" member is still kicking around in a variety of yuku groups [not including the one we are most familiar with] ~

Just a reminder:
This Saturday at 11 pm is the bi-annual Atheist meeting at your local greasy spoon.
This time we will discuss our secret agenda as usual and how to get Jesus, Mohammed, Zeus and the rest of the bunch out of the public square.

For our Canadian members there's free beer.

OMG, Hitler's granddaughter was a hoot to read. I always wondered from which facility she was posting. I will say that at least she was consistent with her delusions.

We'll put up a mirror. We believe in our ability to think for ourselves.
