DONALD, Ore. – A four-year-old boy died of a gunshot wound in his home Saturday, investigators said.

It happened in Donald in the 10000 block of Main Street NE at around 5:30 p.m.

Cody R. Hall died from a single gunshot wound, Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Don Thomson said. Investigators on Saturday said the shooting appeared to be an accident. They are not looking for any suspects in connection with Hall's death.

****
Hall’s death is the second accidental shooting death of a young child in our area in the last week. On April 14, nine-year-old Shayla Shonneker was shot and killed in her back yard by a stray bullet in Oregon City. Her mother’s boyfriend was inside the home practicing drawing a gun when it fired, investigators said. He does not face charges at this time.

Good thing they had guns around to keep them safe.

I would put them away for life. The same as premeditated murder. You have a loaded gun in a situation a child can get and they die you are guilty of murder. Same as your pulling the trigger.

Some idiot was drawing his gun and it accidently went off and killed a 9 yo???? Put him away and throw away the key, too.

Does anyone know the law (federal or Oregon) regarding whether these gun owners are allowed to continue to own guns?

I suspect there is nothing on the books.

I suspect you're right, John ~ I'm thinking the gun owner would have to be criminally convicted of something ~ :g

So basically in Idaho you can keep loaded guns in your car,and if babies find them and kill each other it's okay.

Well in this case, wound each other, but it's okay. (I mean, it's not like we're talking about a fetus or anything. *They're* "precious" and worth passing legislation.)

Those are post-natal abortions. There's no mention of those in the bible so it's ok.

NRA depicts gun control controversy as an attack on upstanding, commonsensical, folks who like to hunt, target shoot, are concerned about self-defense, etc. But that's not true. It's an attack on the hare-brained wannabe quick draw artist whose bullet killed the kid in the yard. On the dolt who left the loaded weapon in the car with kids.

Mr. LaPierre! Come up with a plan to solve that problem (if you agree it's a problem)!

If only that infant had a gun for self-defense. But that damn nanny state gets in the way.

Are the guns really worth the carnage? I personally don't want to accidentally kill anyone...if I kill it will be deliberately, intentionally, with forethought and my baseball bat!

http://tv.msnbc.com/too-young-gun-deaths/

Twenty children were killed at their school in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14, 2012. Many more have been killed since. In the wake of those deaths, MSNBC began profiling child victims of gun violence. More than 20 families live with the horrific loss, and communities across the country–far from the Connecticut suburbs–continue to grieve children with big dreams. One hoped to become a professional football player, another created a petition to ban puppy mills. One boy could explain in intricate detail the difference in locomotives, another child enjoyed making blueberry pancakes. No president has read their names aloud at a national memorial service, but these children had their own stories to share. Here is a glimpse into the lives of more children who were killed by guns since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
