Okay, I have to wonder why *this* case warrants murder charges, but all the other toddler+gun=tragedy cases didn't?

A New Orleans mother is facing murder charges after her 5-year-old daughter, who was locked their home alone, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

i wonder if the child had died of overdose on pills or had started a fire and had died,etc. if murder charges would have been charged, or if the mother had been white college student with no previous record, etc.

reasons for murder charges: mom is black in Louisiana with previous criminal history, probably single, etc. Obviously not wealthy, etc,. Fits the demographic profile for life in prison.

I was just reading this and thinking "it's long-overdue, hopefully a sign for the future" ~ but then I snapped back to reality and mostly agree with Cannalee's explanation ~

I think all parents/people who have firearms in their homes should be held to the same standards when it comes to a child/adult getting hurt/killed. I do think Cannalee is correct in her opinion as to the murder charge in this case. Sad.

I can't read these any more. I just....I just can't.
