:rollin Wish I had one of these. It will be worth a lot one day. I certainly wouldn't give it back. Love the last line.

Vatican misspells Jesus on Pope Francis commemorative coins

The Vatican has been forced to withdraw commemorative medals commissioned to celebrate Pope Francis’ first year after misspelling Jesus.

The coins, created by the Italian State Mint, had the Pope’s official motto printed around the side, but referred to Jesus as Lesus.

Around four were sold before the mistake on the 6000 bronze, silver and gold medallions was pointed out.

The Latin phrase translated into English means: "Jesus, therefore, saw the publican, and because he saw by having mercy and by choosing, He said to him, ‘Follow me.'"

This was “the quotation that moved the young Jorge Mario Bergoglio when he felt the call to the priesthood” reported Catholic Culture.

It seems the devil is indeed in the details.

The Vatican's official press office told British tabloid Daily Mail on Thursday that four of the misspelled medals had already been sold before the recall. If the medals become valuable collector's items, as is likely, their owners will have Lesus to thank.

I laughed when I heard this on the news last night ... mostly because I can relate ~ during the 10 years my former boss was firm-wide managing partner, I sent a lot of emails firm-wide [there were maybe +/- 1,200 people in all our offices at the time] ~ and, no matter how accurate I normally was, I managed to make Freudian typos when something was going firm-wide ~ I think the worst was when I wrote something about a partner being chosen to serve on a "pubic panel" ~ :o ~ a lot of people LOVED that one, as evidenced by the literally hundreds of emails and many phone calls I got from all over ~ I actually caught the mistake the minute AFTER I hit "send" ~ so I had time to develop my stock answer to all, which was: that typo was just testing if you were paying attention ~ after my boss stopped laughing, he suggested I correct it BEFORE it went out as a press release ~ :b

That reminds me of something Mel Brooks said in an old skit. He mentions "public hair" and Carl Reiner says, "you mean pubic hair". Brooks says, "No - I mean the hair the public sees."

I remember long ago an article in a car magazine or something like it, discussing the relative merits of various engines, large and small, in racing applications. At the time, engine displacement was measured in cubic inches. Can't recall the exact context, but somehow someone got their c's and p's mixed up, and declared that there was no substitute for pubic inches.

I'm reminded of the Doobie Bros. song, "Lesus Is Lust Alright".

To quote the reaction of the four: "Ka-Ching"
