Tampa police are questioning two people in connection with shots fired at a Home Depot store on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa Wednesday afternoon, police said. According to TPD, it was an argument over a parking spot that started it.

According to the TPD report, officers detained two people at the store at 1712 N. Dale Mabry Highway after they responded to the shots fired call.

Witnesses told News Channel 8, they heard a loud argument and saw two people getting in a pickup truck trying to drive away. They were chased by other people in a different car.

The pickup had to stop, the witnesses said. The people in the other car got out and started shooting. They missed the truck, and hit a parked car nearby. After that they got back in their car and tried to flee.

Police came and apprehended the people. Police said nobody was injured. According to police, the argument that started the shooting was about a parking spot. They are investigating the incident.

Finally some excitement today at my HD! After loading up my second cart with material HD employees came running through the store ordering all customers to the back of the store

After about an hour we finally could leave into a parking lot full of cops with vests, swat team and probably 20 cop cars.

Note to myself: get a 9mm handgun for the next time some homeowner parks in the dedicated Pro parking spots!

Time for a new phrase: "Parking lot rage".

Doesn't have the same ring as "Road Rage" does it?

Stay tuned. More of this coming to you direct from parking lots starting on Black Friday. :

BTW. Where was the "good guy with a gun"? Dammit! They are NEVER around when you need them. :hmm

The talk was that one guy pulled a gun. Bad part was the other guy pulled one, too. And shot.
This time only the rear window of an empty, parked car.
Everyone else ducked or ran into HD.
This time.

As much as I'd like to ridicule this, I really can't do it (very much :angel ). It's a disturbing trend that isn't going to stop, or reverse imo. Everyone is gun happy and willing to "stand their ground" even over something as stupid as a parking spot.
What's next? "Shopping Cart Wars" or "Checkout line up wars"? Sigh

A better description of the incident...

Quote:
The incident began when Raymond Lindstrom, 35, of New Port Richey, pulled out of his parking space in a black Ford pickup at around 12:40 p.m. at the Home Depot, at 1712 N. Dale Mabry Highway.

As he tried to exit the parking area, he drove near a gold minivan driven by Latasha Strong, of Tampa, in the parking aisle. The two vehicles got too close, making it difficult to pass safely, police said.

Lindstrom and Strong were side by side and exchanged words through the driver’s side windows, police said.

As the two exchanged words, Strong’s husband, Darrell Strong, 27, of Tampa, and his friend, John Christian, 40, of Tampa, pulled up in a separate vehicle, police said.

Darrell Strong and Christian confronted Lindstrom, who remained in his truck. The argument escalated and a fight broke out as Lindstrom was still in the driver’s seat, police said.

Lindstrom took out his gun, which Darrell Strong and Christian tried to take from him, police said.

Darrell Strong and Christian ran to their car. Lindstrom drove off, but he headed down a parking aisle that was a dead end, police said. He turned around and tried driving out of the lot.

Darrell Strong retrieved a gun from his car, police said, and went to the front of the store. As Lindstrom drove by, Darrell Strong fired two shots at the pickup, police said. Two bullets hit an unoccupied white Toyota Corrolla that belonged to someone not involved in the incident. The bullets knocked out the back and a side window.

Police estimate there were about a dozen people between the shooter and the truck when the shots were fired.

No one was shot or injured, police said.

Both Lindstrom and Darrell Strong have concealed weapons permits, police said.

You see, both men were law-abiding citizen up to the time of the incident. :ey

I'm really glad you're ok, Jab. That's scary!

And I one hundred percent agree with you. This is a growing trend.

And, I think, human nature. If you buy something, and spend the time and money training to use it...you visualize yourself using it, you spend time thinking about how you will use it--it's in your head. Pretty soon you start inventing reasons to use it.

People who get guns and carry permits aren't just doing it to look like dirty harry. They are preparing to USE their weapons. Not as deterrents. As TOOLS. And these tools are designed to kill people. That is the reason they exist. Unlike cars, which are designed for transportation, and which can owners can be skilled and use without hurting people. Guns are designed to kill people. And people who invest in preparing to do that, are going to do it.

Come to think of it, HD is a good place to be if you need to fashion a self-defence weapon from scratch.

Florida Chick-fil-A customer opens fire after car cuts in line at drive-thru

Authorities in Florida are searching for a suspect who opened fire after someone cut in front of him at a Jacksonville Chick-fil-A drive-thru.

According to First Coast News, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the restaurant at around 9:25 a.m. Monday morning and found that the victim’s car had been struck by at least one bullet in the driver’s side of the rear window.

Investigators said that the victim had attempted to drive around an older brown Buick Regal which appeared to be stalled in the drive-thru line when the suspect got out of the passenger’s side of the car and began cursing.

The suspect took out a black semi-automatic handgun, fired one or more rounds and then fled on foot. The driver of the brown Buick Regal drove off after the suspect.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is searching for an African-American male, about 5’10″ and 150 pounds. He was described as having a “low haircut” and last wearing a purple jacket and faded blue jeans.

.....and now they are criminals and, thus, justification for more people to pack more guns.

Yeah, you quickly grab a lathe, a piece of pipe and go to work while you send the wife off to the gardening department for some fertilizer and sulphur with a quick stop in hardware for a handful of nails. Before long you're banging away with the best of them - and probably with the same accuracy.

I've never met jab in person, but I've always vaguely imagined him looking like McGyver--because of his personality.

“Bad blood” on the special Home Depot display team that decks the halls with Christmas cheer led to a stabbing in Aisle 13 in a Quincy store yesterday, police said.

Jamal Boyd, 36, of Mattapan will be arraigned on assault with intent to murder charges today after he used a pocket knife to slash Corey Frederick, 37, of Cambridge shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday in the store’s doors and windows section, police said. Frederick underwent surgery at Boston Medical Center and was in critical condition.

“We know there was some bad blood,” Quincy police Chief Paul Keenan said. “They had words prior to the altercation.”

Boyd ran into woods behind the store, but answered his cellphone and eventually gave himself up, Keenan said.

Store managers declined to comment. Keenan said the two were part of The Home Depot’s merchandising execution team. The Home Depot’s website calls on team members to, “Display your attention to detail when installing an attention-grabbing display, or utilize your analytical skills to execute merchandising strategies. No matter which tasks you undertake, you’ll be helping to boost sales — and provide our customers with an enjoyable shopping experience.”

Home Depot apologizes for racist tweet

Video: The company has apologized about a tweet some say was racist. It featured a photo of two African-American men and a man in a gorilla costume playing the drums and read, “Which drummer is not like the others?”

A racist tweet sent from an outside agency landed Home Depot in a hornet’s nest of trouble on Thursday.

The company quickly pulled the tweet and issued an apology after many spoke out on Thursday.

They later announced they'd cut ties with the agency and individual responsible.

Home Depot is not naming the firm or individual involved in the tweet, but tells NBC News they're reviewing internal policies.

"We're also closely reviewing our social media procedures to determine how this could have happened, and how to ensure it never happens again.”

Here's what users had to say in response to the initial tweet:
