Nov 19 (TheWrap.com) - The Flying Circus is coming back to town.
The surviving members of Monty Python will reunite for a new stage show — news that is sure to confirm the existence of a higher power for comedy nerds around the globe.
“We’re getting together and putting on a show – it’s real,” Terry Jones told the BBC. ”I’m quite excited about it. I hope it makes us a lot of money. I hope to be able to pay off my mortgage!”
The five surviving members — Jones, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam — have only reunited sporadically since the 1983 film “Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life.” They took the stage together at the 1998 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, for instance, and have showed up to support each other’s solo projects, such as Idle’s musical “Spamalot.”
Graham Chapman, the sixth member of the troop, died of cancer in 1989.
The remaining Python members will unveil the details of their planned reunion at a press conference on Thursday. It’s not clear if the stage show will include any television or film components and if the Pythons will be cooking up new bits or reviving classic acts.
Whatever the case may be, this instantly becomes a must-have ticket for anyone who looks on the bright side of life or doesn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition.
