Creationist asks ‘hard question’: ‘If evolution is true, is rape wrong?’
By Travis Gettys
Wednesday, June 11, 2014 8:55 EDT

Creationist Darek Isaacs said during an online broadcast posted Monday that evolutionary theory excused rape.

He said during an episode of “Creation Today” that he had studied works by Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, E.O. Wilson, and other “purveyors of evolutionary thought” and found himself in “a very, very dark place,” reported the Friendly Atheist blog.

“You have to start asking questions: Well, if evolution is true, and it’s just all about the male propagating their DNA, we had to ask hard questions, like, well, is rape wrong?” Isaacs said, as one of his hosts gasps.

Isaacs is the author of “Dragons or Dinosaurs?” – which argues that ancient myths about dragons were based on human interactions with dinosaurs — and the founder of the Watchman 33 end times blog.

He said marriage would be “anathema” in an evolutionary worldview because it would limit sexual relations to one man and one woman for life.

“According to the evolutionary worldview, [if] that male is strong enough and he had wonderful genes, he should propagate his DNA as much as possible so that the species can progress,” Isaacs said. “So it redefines everything about our society.”

Convoluted?
Nah. Idiotic!

And I think "dragon myths" probably did partly come about because of interaction between humans and dinosaurs. After all people dug up their bones ....

Pat Robertson: Don’t ‘get your father busted’ if he threatens mom with a gun
By David Edwards
Wednesday, June 11, 2014 13:29 EDT

Televangelist Pat Robertson on Wednesday advised children whose mother was being threatened with a gun by the family’s father not go to the police.

“Whenever my parents fight, my dad threatens my mom with his gun,” a viewer told Robertson in an email. “Fortunately, this now means nothing to my mom, and she never goes nuts about it; she is very calm.”

“But as a child, I get nervous and worried when this happens,” the viewer’s note continued. “Even my younger brother saw this incident. What should we do about it and him?”

“Well, again, you don’t want to get your father busted, but you could,” Robertson explained. “You ought to go to your mother and say, ‘Mom, this thing is scaring me, and I ask you please to get my father to have some help.’”

“This kind of rage — I mean, one day he’s going to pull the trigger,” the TV preacher warned. “It doesn’t take too much if you’ve got a loaded weapon and you’re brandishing it around, ‘I’m going to kill you.’ And the next thing you know, the thing goes off. It may be accidentally, but the mother will end up dead.”

Robertson told the child that something had to be done about the father.

“But you’re a kid, what do you do? You know?” he said. “Your mother ought to take care of that.”

Colorado man pleads not guilty, says he ‘mercy’ killed wife after accidentally shooting her
By David Edwards
Sunday, June 15, 2014 9:40 EDT

A Colorado man who admitted fatally shooting his wife pleaded not guilty last week to murder after saying the first gun shot was an accident, and the second gunshot was a “mercy killing.”

According to The Gazette, 46-year-old Black Forest resident Kenneth Lankford entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday to the first degree murder of his wife, 51-year-old Terry Lankford. Kenneth Lankford said that he was also not guilty of murdering 51-year-old Carol Fowler, and wounding her husband, 52-year-old Thomas Fowler.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported last month that Kenneth Lankford had told deputies that he was forced to shoot and kill his wife because she had been injured when he accidentally shot her during an argument.

“He said he didn’t mean to shoot his wife, and he didn’t mean to hurt the man, but that the woman’s death was definitely a murder,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg White explained at a preliminary hearing in May.

White said that Kenneth Lankford told them that he had gotten in an argument with his wife when the couple heard a knock at the door, and were concerned because he had had been in trouble with the law before. The couple retreated to a bedroom, where Kenneth Lankford said that Terry Lankford reached for his gun, and was accidentally shot.

“[Lankford] said Terry was making the most ‘God-awful gurgling sound,’ and he felt horrible, so he held the gun with both hands and shot her to put her out of her misery,” White recalled.

Kenneth Lankford told deputies that he then lashed out at the couple who had knocked on his door, shooting Thomas Fowler in the face. Carol Fowler died after being shot in the chest, collarbone and back of the head.

Deputies testified that Lankford told them that he had been using meth the night before the killings.

Sovereign citizen on trial for placing $100 billion liens on homes of federal court officials
By Scott Kaufman
Wednesday, June 18, 2014 9:30 EDT

Former U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and eleven other federal court officials testified in federal court on Tuesday that they didn’t believe they owed money to a sovereign citizen who placed a $100 billion lien on each of their homes.

According to prosecutors, Cherron Phillips ... placed the bogus lien on Fitzgerald’s home — as well as similar liens on the homes of other federal court officials in the Chicago area — after then-Chief U.S. District Judge James Holderman ordered her removed and barred from the courthouse in which her brother Devon’s drug case was being tried.

Phillips and her brother are part of the sovereign citizens movement, a loose alliance bound only by an anti-government ideology. Sovereign citizens believe that they alone decide which laws they must obey, and regularly file nonsensical lawsuits designed to swamp the legal system. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) notes that while “a normal criminal case docket might have 60 or 70 entries, many involving sovereigns have as many as 1,200.”

Moreover, “[s]overeigns believe that if they can find just the right combination of words, punctuation, paper, ink color and timing, they can have anything they want — freedom from taxes, unlimited wealth, and life without licenses, fees or laws, are all just a few strangely worded documents away.”

These tactics are what prosecutors allege Cherron Phillips — who also goes by the alias River Tali El Bey — employed against Fitzgerald and dozens of other federal judges, prosecutors, court clerks, and police officers who had bogus liens placed on their homes.

She has been charged with twelve counts of retaliating against a federal official by filing false claims. When asked how she pleaded, she said, “I accept for value in returning for value for settlement in closure of this accounting.”

Prosecutors argue that after she was barred from the courthouse, Phillips went to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds Office and filed a dozen false maritime liens that would prevent people from selling — or even paying taxes on — their property.

The judge who barred her from his courthouse testified that when Phillips sent him a document demanding he appear at a public library branch on the Far South Side or be arrested, he “laughed it off.”

During his testimony, former-U.S. Attorney Fitzgerald smiled at the jurors when he was asked whether he owed Phillips $100 billion.

“I don’t owe anyone $100 billion,” he said, “and I don’t owe Devon Phillips a penny.”

Police: Fire-loving Florida mom brands kids with hot stick so people will know they are hers
By David Edwards
Thursday, June 19, 2014 9:40 EDT

A Florida woman is facing child abuse charges after investigators alleged that she branded her children with a hot stick as a form of identification.

WBBH reported that 23-year-old medical assistant Kayla R. Oxenham had told her children, ages 5 and 7, that she “forgot how much she loved fire.”

The children said that Oxenham used a lighter to burn a stick, and then touched the stick to their arms, according to a Port Charlotte police report.

The report said that Oxenham told the kids that she had to burn them so that they could have ice cream, and so that they could be identified as hers.

The 7-year-old girl recalled to investigators that the incident had started when her mother repeatedly slammed her 5-year-old sister’s head into a wall as punishment for locking a cat in their bathroom.

The Florida Department of Children and Families first received reports about possible abuse after day care workers noticed scabs on the children in late March. Medical examiners determined that at least one of the children had injuries consistent with burns.

Oxenham reportedly denied beating her children, and refused to talk to police about the burns. She was released from jail on Wednesday after posting a bond.

Texas day care facing investigation over photos of toddlers held down with duct tape
By David Ferguson
Friday, June 20, 2014 20:55 EDT

A family-run day care facility in Willow Park, Texas is facing parents’ wrath and investigation by Child Protective Services after photos surfaced this week of children duct-taped down for their naps.

According to KFOR News Channel 4, a former worker at the Heart 2 Heart Montessori Academy circulated the photos among parents, who are furious.

One mother told KFOR that her 3-year-old was tied down with duct tape because he refused to take a nap. She said that school officials admitted to her that they had tied down multiple children who presented discipline problems during nap time.

Heart 2 Heart’s director Ashlea Pena issued a statement on Friday that said, “The staff and I have the best interest of the children and parents as our highest priority. The school has exemplary performance history, and will work with childcare licensing authorities and cooperate fully with any investigation.”

The school received a visit from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Child Care Licensing Division on Thursday. The facility was last inspected in April and found to be free of violations.

NY mother arrested for driving daughter, two friends to park to beat up 12-year-old girl
By Tom Boggioni

OK gun range owner insists howitzer fired safely after shell blasts house 3 miles away
By Travis Gettys
Thursday, June 26, 2014 13:24 EDT

An Oklahoma home was damaged last weekend by a howitzer artillery shell fired from a gun range three miles away.

The artillery shell – which is 14.5 inches long and 3.5 inches across – crashed through an exterior wall, hit the ceiling, and damaged another wall while homeowner Gene Kelley and his wife were in another room, reported KOAM-TV.

“It’s unbelievable,” Kelley said. “Unless you were here to see it or see the pictures I’ve got, you would not believe how huge this thing is.”

No one was hurt, but Kelley said the damage could have been worse if the shell had not hit a tree limb and then the ground before striking his Wyandotte house.

The shell was fired from a 105mm howitzer at the Oklahoma Full Auto Shoot and Trade Show, but the gun range owner insists the historic weapon was safely fired by professionals in a downward projection.

“It was not on a level plane, but on a downward trend, pointed downhill in the bottom of a valley,” said Mike Friend, Owner of Fast Machine Gun Shoot. “For that thing to rise and go far northwest of the range, it’s just unheard of.”

Both Friend and Kelley described the incident as a “freak accident.”

“As far as the safety end of everything, we drill every one of our shooters before it ever begins,” Friend said. “We have 30-45 minute drill.”

The gun range owner has agreed to pay for any damages from the accidental artillery shooting, but Kelley questions whether such weapons should be legal to use.

“The people that bring these type of weapons need to think about whether it is really safe and an appropriate area to take a weapon of that magnitude and shoot it,” Kelley said.

FL ‘sovereign citizen’ names imaginary nation to claim ‘diplomatic immunity’ from traffic laws
By Travis Gettys
Wednesday, July 2, 2014 12:20 EDT

A Florida woman claiming to be “Moorish” and having “diplomatic immunity” was arrested late last month on traffic charges.

Police said 32-year-old Janine McCune was speeding and talking on a cell phone when officers stopped her in Orland Park.

Officers said the woman claimed her name was Ramsieyh S. Rael but was unable to produce a driver’s license or current insurance information, reported Orland Park Patch.

She told officers she had been talking to her mother on the phone, and police said license information for Rael showed a suspension for insurance violations.

However, police said the woman claimed to have no knowledge of the infractions.

Officers took the woman into custody but noticed she was no longer wearing a work name tag clipped to her shirt as she was placed into the squad car.

“I asked her where they were at,” the arresting officer wrote in a report. “She indicated she never had anything clipped to her. This information made me suspicious that Ramsieyh may not be truthful.”

Police spotted her work identification inside her car showing the name Janine McCune, to whom the Ford Focus was registered.

But police said McCune insisted her name was Ramsieyh and claimed “Moorish and diplomatic immunity.”

That’s an apparent reference to teachings by the Moorish Science Temple of America, whose followers have been implicated in real estate and other fraud schemes.

The group attracts black followers to the “sovereign citizens” movement, an anti-government ideology with foundational ties to white supremacy.

Moorish Science teaches that black “Moors” were the original inhabitants of the U.S. and are entitled to “self-governing, nation-within-a-nation status,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Moorish adherents, like others in the loosely organized movement, have filed nuisance lawsuits and claim U.S., state, and local laws do not apply to them, citing obscure legal principles and historic treaties as their justification.

Police said McCune eventually admitted Janine was her birth name, and officers found her license had been revoked for drunken driving-related offenses.

Her car was towed, and McCune was charged with driving on a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, talking on a cell phone while driving, and speeding.

New Mexico dad gives 11-year-old daughter gun for ‘protection’ so he can go get a tattoo
By David Edwards
Thursday, July 3, 2014 10:13 EDT

A New Mexico father was in Albuquerque court this week because he gave his 11-year-old daughter a loaded firearm for protection while he went to get a tattoo.

Police charged John Ruiz with child endangerment after his daughter was seen at an apartment complex swimming pool with a loaded .22 caliber pistol under her towel.

According to KOB-TV, the girl did not threaten or hurt anyone with the weapon.

She told police that her father “leaves the firearm with her when he goes to school or runs errands for protection in case someone breaks in or something.” KOB-TV reported that the father had gone to get a tattoo at the time the girl was seen with the gun.

Ruiz was charged with child endangerment, and then released on $15,000 bond.

“You guys don’t know about harassment by the neighbors or anything else,” the father told KOB-TV after a court appearance on Monday. “We’re good people, I don’t know what to tell you. I did nothing wrong.”

“I made a mistake, that’s it,” he added. “I left a weapon unlocked, and my daughter — and they twisted everything around.”

CA pastor and parishioners plead guilty to forcing 13-year-old boy to dig his own grave
By David Edwards
Tuesday, July 8, 2014 15:25 EDT

A California pastor and two members of his congregation admitted in court that they physically abused a 13-year-old boy and made him dig his own grave.

According to affidavits published by The Los Angeles Times, 56-year-old Heart of Worship Community Church Pastor Lonny Lee Remmers, 24-year-old Nicholas James Craig and 30-year-old Darryll Duane Jeter Jr. said that they were following instructions to “scare” the victim. All three of the men had worked at a group home where the boy lived.

In March of 2012, the men reportedly took the victim to the desert where he was forced to dig a grave. After he got in the grave, the men threw dirt on him.

The men also rubbed salt into his wounds while he was showering, tied him to a chair with zip ties, and sprayed mace on his face until he bled.

At one point, the boy was made to sit in the middle of a Bible study group and pinch his own nipples with pliers, investigators said.

Remmers could be sentenced to up to two years in prison after pleading guilty to inflicting bodily injury on a child and assault with a deadly weapon. Craig and Jeter were ordered to serve one year in prison, and placed on three years of formal probation after pleading guilty to child abuse charges and making criminal threats.

A sentencing hearing for Remmers is scheduled for Sept. 26.

Missouri man shoots wife because he ‘got tired of her’
By David Edwards

A Missouri man reportedly told police that he shot his wife over the weekend because he was “tired of her.”

Ripley County Cpl. Earl Wheetley was called to a home in Naylor on Saturday evening where he found Carolyn Leonard “laying on the front porch covered in blood,” the Southeast Missourian reported.

The woman “stated her and her husband was arguing, and he shot her” in the shoulder, Wheetley wrote in an affidavit.

Her husband, 59-year-old Bobby Leonard, emerged from the trailer, and was handcuffed by Wheetley.

“I asked him if he had any weapons on him, and he stated, ‘No, the gun is in the house on the counter,’” Wheetley recalled.

Bobby Leonard was placed under arrest, and advised of his rights. He then asked if his wife was dead.

Wheetley told him that his wife was not dead, and “I asked Bobby what happened.”

“I got tired of her and shot her,” Bobby Leonard allegedly replied.

Bobby Leonard was charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action or first-degree domestic assault. He was being held at the Doniphan City Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bond.

Carolyn Leonard was flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Sheriff Ron Barnett described her condition as “stable.”

Man taking Facebook selfie posing with handgun dies after shooting self in the head
By Tom Boggioni
Monday, August 4, 2014 8:49 EDT

A Mexico City man, attempting to take a selfie posing with a gun after drinking with friends, has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head.

According to authorities, Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, died at the scene of the shooting, reports The Daily Mirror.

Aguilar, who had reportedly been drinking before the shooting, was using his cell phone to take a picture of himself with the gun when it went off, killing him.

“I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realized somebody had been hurt. I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive,” said neighbor Manfredo Paez Paez.

Aguilar died before he could be transported to a hospital.

According to The Ministry of Public Security, Aguilar was planning on posting the picture on his Facebook page along with other pictures showing him in expensive cars or posing with bottles of alcohol.
