Sarah Palin’s Way To Remember MLK Jr.? Stop Talking About Racism (VIDEO)

On a day focused on remembering Martin Luther King Jr., arguably the most prominent figure of the Civil Rights Era, good old former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin can always be counted on to open her mouth and let whatever nonsense that happened to jumble together in her brain come spilling out. This, of course, isn’t the first time Palin has said something that made her sound dumb. Who can forget her assertion that Paul Revere warned the British that we were keeping our guns? Or how about North Korea being one of our allies? Well, today’s comment was a tad bit more annoying.
Facebook doesn’t have an IQ requirement.Palin, in her always gloriously inept state of mind, decided to take to her Facebook and quote a portion of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech. Very thoughtful of her, and thankfully, she’d never bring politics into the equation on such a day that should bring people of all political ideologies together. Oh wait, she definitely would do that.

”Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card.”
Unfortunately, Palin somehow amassed over 3.9 million followers on the page who would eventually see this little comment of hers. Even more astounding is the fact that within seven hours, well over 5,000 of her followers had already shared the statement. That’s right people: Palin’s best effort at remembering King’s legacy is to act as if racism simply doesn’t exist or shouldn’t be brought up. What’s even funnier than that is what it took for her to think that the president was playing the “race card.”
Sarah Palin’s imaginary race card.Sarah Palin, always the research-oriented genius that she is, of course never cited a single instance when the president has played the race card. Luckily, informed individuals likely quickly equated her statement to a recent interview with President Obama where he said:

”There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president.”
Well, okay then. It kind of makes sense that Palin would call this the “race card.” Of course, as is typical of those in the Tea Party and their overly exuberant Facebook supporters, she likely ignored the part of the interview that followed after that initial statement:

”Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president.”
Okay, so Sarah Palin’s beef is obviously focused on the fact that the president said that some individuals don’t like him because they don’t want a black president. Of course, there’s no telling where he could’ve gotten this idea from. Oh, wait.
Who’s really playing the race card.It only takes a quick search of most conservative Facebook pages to find racist remarks tossed about like they are going out of style. Well, hopefully they are going out of style. Pictures depicting the president and his wife as monkeys or tribal Africans abound on many of these sites. It’s not just the anonymity of Facebook, however, that brings out these racist statements.
A host of images from conservative rallies and areas in America do everything from showing children holding signs calling the president a monkey to advocating the lynching of the first African American president. The point here is that the president said some people don’t like the fact that he’s black. If photographic evidence proves that some people are racist and don’t like him because of that, it’s not playing the race card. It’s stating a fact.
Of course, we can always look towards Palin’s speech about the national debt if we want to see a nice Sarah Palin racist quote:

”Our free stuff today is being paid for today by taking money from our children and borrowing from China. When that money comes due and, this isn’t racist, so try it, try it anyway, this isn’t racist, but it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due. Right? We are going to be beholden to a foreign master.”
Quick little tip for Palin: if you have to start a sentence with “this isn’t racist,” then you’re probably about to say something either incredibly racist, incredibly stupid, or both. Of course, by this point, it’d be a bit of a shocker if something dumb wasn’t coming out of her mouth.
