LOL ~ is than an order, SciFi? ~ :b

I voted yes, I will watch tonight's entire SOTU address ~ I'm especially interested in seeing the GOP/TPers' reaction when Obama announces raising the minimum wage for federal contracts via executive order ~

I'm just not feeling up to the usual standing ovation/applause after every sentence nonsense.

But I will read the transcript as soon as it's out, and no doubt see clips.

It's kind of like a train wreck for me- some of you can't watch, some of it you can't turn away from.

I will be watching it but what I want to see and not hear beforehand is Obama picking up his pen and signing executive order after executive order throughout the remainder of his term. He needs to put words into action and let the Teabaggers and the Republicans threaten to sue him, threaten to impeach him, etc.. because even if they follow through with their threats by the time it takes to do all these things he will be out of office. Screw them all!

I read the other day about the R's pick for a rebuttal. Can't remember her name, but the "top Republican female" senator (or congressperson). That doesn't say much, imo, lol.

She is 45 yrs old and has 3 kids I think. One has Down's syndrome, the youngest is an infant. They say she can appeal to working mom's and parents with disabled children. She's religious and very conservative. I do wonder if she may get a nod for POTUS or Veep and that is why they are putting her front and center on this? When I have a minute, I'll look up the story.

I won't watch. I hardly ever do. The last SOTU I watched was Bush after 9/11, but those were extraordinary times.

Sooz -- it was a request. Lol.

I'll watch -- while exercising at the gym. Lol.

I can't see myself just sitting through two hours without doing something!

And then there's the real world.

The state of the union speech Barack Obama would never give

My fellow Americans, Neil Macdonald imagines a more unvarnished version of how things stand

I saw one bit of a clip this morning, and it looked like Boehner was squeezing out a turd. He needs to practice his "sneer of disdain". lol

Boehner frequently appears to be painfully constipated, Chaos ~ as did Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, and others as the cameras swept over the audience ~

The SOTU is always a "feel good" speech ~ I think Obama did a decent job while dropping a few bombshells ~ he tore the GOP/TPers a new one on several issues ... especially when he said he would use his federal powers to do whatever he can do while Congress dithers amongst itself ~

Obama gave another good speech.

He put forth some reasonable ideas, told us the things he plans to do that he can do, and encouraged Congress to do what he believes they need to do.

Did you see the Republican response?

It was filled with words like "we have a plan..." but she never gave us any specifics. I found it to be insulting and condescending to anyone with intelligence.

If I were a Republican, which I was prior to the Clinton presidency, I would be embarrassed by the Republican woman who gave their rebuttal. Talk about a not very well prepared speech who made comment after comment about her Party's plans but didn't even tell what these plans were and dug herself a hole by stating her Party didn't want government telling people what to do yet failed to mention her Party is the one wanting to have control over women's choices they make for themselves. Maybe she and Sarah Palin can become buddies and compare notes on children with disabilites because it appears both want the public to know about these children when it's convenient for their own purposes. Sad, pathetic women.
