I get it, I really do. However, on one hand they are claiming the high road regarding tobacco and on the other hand they dispense drugs with dangerous side effects and essentially "push" OTC drugs that can be fatal. ;)

Smokes aren't politically correct.
They'll be flogging pot soon enough, though.

I am proud of them.

I hope they don't sell pot either. The medicinal stuff is sold in a separate facility.

Prescription drugs save lives. Ask my 96 year old mother. Pseudoephedrine is behind the counter. We have to show driver's licenses etc to get that OTC drug. Anything can be fatal. You could drink a glass of Draino and die.

Thank you for proving my point. :)

I guess I missed your point. Drug stores sell drugs. That is their reason for being. Lots of other places to buy cigarettes.

They also sell chocolate bars, wine and beer kits and iffy diet plans.

Our CVS doesn't sell wine and beer kits and I have never looked for iffy diet plans. All diet plans are iffy btw.

Do you even have CVS in Canada? sooz told me Walgreen's prevails in Chicago where I think they do sell wine.

Yea, they do sell chocolate bars, which I guess is a danger to a diabetic, but so is orange juice which they also sell.

I was there yesterday and bought CVS brand depends, mouth wash and body lotion, tide and bleach all for Mother. I bought a mascara, nyquil and shampoo for me. I picked up her script for Hydroxyurea which is a chemo drug to maintain platelet count (it's worked for a least 5 years and kept her from leukemia) and mine for nexium.

Yea.

I most be getting dense because I don't understand your point any more than I got Roseanne's. CVS sells most things I need to take care of my mother and me; prescription drugs and a wide assortment of general merchandise, including over-the-counter drugs, beauty products and cosmetics, film and photo finishing services, seasonal merchandise, greeting cards, and convenience foods. Convenience foods include milk, eggs, bread, and orange juice with are staples in our house.

Yes, you can get beer and wine in many Walgreen's here ~ altho that trend seems to be over [or at least slowed] with the new Walgreen's footprint being used in building new/rebuilding older stores ~ and we can buy beer, wine, and liquor in virtually all grocery stores ~

Bottom line for me: stores are entitled to stock or not stock whatever they choose ~ and customers are entitled to shop or not shop at all stores, based on what stores' stock and the convenience factor ~

It seems to me CVS is doing this for the "WOW" factor ~ a $2billion hit will definitely affect the bottom line ~ so it'll be interesting to see if they stick with it ~

Sooz
