Google took a jab at the anti-gay stance of Russia. Under the colorful rainbow doodle:

If only the IOC would live up to that ideal...

Obama is not going to the opening ceremonies and is, instead, sending Billie Jean King (who pulled out because her mom is ill I just learned), Brian Boitano and Caitlin Cahow. All openly gay athletes.

Making an issue on which nations' leaders are or are not attending is rather silly, IMO. Historically, national leaders have had a rather low attendance rate unless their nation was hosting the games.
Further politicizing a non-political event doesn't help matters. It's petty nonsense.
