‘Young Turks’ rip ‘moron’ Sarah Palin for comparing climate change to eugenics
Arturo Garcia | 28 Oct 2014 at 23:02 ET

The hosts of The Young Turks mocked former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) on Tuesday for her attempt to dismiss climate change as “bad science” like the eugenics scares of the 20th century.

“All you can really do is look at her and laugh at her and make fun of her,” Ana Kasparian said. “But in reality, there’s a serious point to take away from all this: it’s assholes like the Koch brothers, it’s morons like Sarah Palin and all the other Republicans that deny climate change that’s literally gonna lead to the destruction of this planet.”

Earlier this week, Palin said in a video on her Facebook page that, while she did not consider herself a “denier,” that there was no proof that the changing climate was linked to human activity.

“No one has proven that these changes are caused by anything done by human beings via greenhouse gases,” Palin said. “There’s no convincing scientific evidence for man-made climate change.”

Host John Iadarola said in response that Palin conflated weather and climate in her statement, and relied on several “easily-debunked” talking points.

“For her to stand there like a deer in the headlights and make an argument that there’s no sound scientific evidence indicating that climate change exists is so utterly ridiculous,” Kasparian argued.

Palin also called climate change research “bad science” and argued that “a lot of people are gonna look very foolish and heartless” after it is debunked.

“Why heartless? Because this global warming/climate change hysteria hurts the poorest among us,” she said. “We hear all the time about how liberals supposedly care more for the poor than conservatives do. But, for the sake of climate change, liberals hold back the poorest parts of the world from the kind of development that we have in America.”

Iadarola responded by saying that it was the actual phenomenon of climate change hurting the poor, and not the “hysteria.”

“As it destroys their agriculture and leads to civil conflict, it is already killing many of them in various parts of the globe,” he said.
