'Anti-government' gun attack in Texas

A gunman who attacked downtown buildings and the Mexican Consulate in Austin, Texas, before being shot, may have had political reasons, say police.

The white, middle-aged man fired at the consulate, the police headquarters and a courthouse early on Friday morning.

He was shot by police but it is not clear whether he was fatally wounded or took his own life.

Police said it looked like an "anti-government" attack and pointed to the "heated" immigration debate.

When asked if it was a political attack on the government, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said: "If you look at the targets that were hit, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that that's a potential."

The political discourse around immigration, he added, "becomes very heated and very angry and sometimes the rhetoric is not healthy".

No-one was injured in the attack and a fire the man started at the consulate caused very little damage.

The man was unidentified but described as white and about 50 years old.

After being shot, officers noticed cylinders in his vehicle nearby and discovered he was wearing a vest they thought might be rigged to blow up.

A bomb squad was called but they determined that the items were not explosive.

President Barack Obama recently took action, bypassing Congress, to lift the threat of deportation for more than four million undocumented people living illegally in the US.

The man's home is now being searched.

Black Panthers Caught in This Major Domestic Terror Plot in FergusonTuesday, November 25th, 2014

Two men, both members of the New Black Panther Party out of St. Louis, Mo., were recently arrested by FBI agents.

The arrests were related to a bomb buying sting stemming from a straw purchase of firearms, which is illegal in the state.

The two domestic terrorists were planning on detonating the pipe bombs during protests after the grand jury decision was announced in Ferguson, Mo.

Detonation of the bombs would have added to the destruction that took place last night in and around the city of Ferguson.

With the sheer volume of rioters and protesters around the Ferguson police headquarters and all through West Florissant Avenue, any type of bomb would have certainly caused widespread casualties.

The two men were the same individuals involved in an illegal firearms purchase from a Cabela’s store just north of St. Louis.

A “straw purchase” which is what they were charged with, is the purchase of a firearm under false pretenses.

Usually it involves purchasing a firearm under one’s name and then giving or selling the same firearm to someone who isn’t allowed to own or buy one themselves. In this case, the purchase included two Hi-Point pistols, which would probably have been passed to another Black Panther gang member to be used in Ferguson.

The two then were set up by the FBI in a bomb-buying sting. The two were caught, red-handed, buying parts to assemble pipe bombs. The bombs are filled with ball bearing, nails, and other metal objects so that when they detonate they cause as much harm to as many people as possible.

This was nothing short of a domestic terrorism plot which the FBI caught before it was too late.

It wouldn’t come as a surprise if the New Black Panthers were being guided by outside forces, even groups like the Islamic State, who have hinted of their presence in Ferguson in the past.

Timothy McVeigh's actions were called "domestic terrorism". I guess the definition of terrorist has changed since 1995 and we all know that only dark-skinned extremists can be terrorists.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the second event is "reported" in something called "conservative tribune" ~

Racism has become so ingrained that so-called "objective" journalists don't realize how racist they are.

Absolutely! ~ and very well said ~ to me, it's along the lines of a perhaps not-even-recognized, nuanced "white entitlement" mentality ~ race and ethnicity simply don't matter to me ~ of course I recognize if someone looks "different" from me, but it's only an observation, not a judgment ~

I came accross a survey of cops (wish I had the link) a while back and the result was that even black cops were more likely to shoot a black guy than a white guy.

journalism has this problem up and down. there are certain "favored truths" that are perpetuated by the media, and they are so ingrained that it they don't even see it. another great example is the universal virtue of US foreign policy. you will basically NEVER see the idea that our foreign policy is fundamentally "well meaning" questioned in the US. another third rail is questioning capitalism. it NEVER happens in the MSM, here. and like you just said, reporters are so "imbedded", so enured, that they really have no clue they are doing it.
