The right’s favorite retort to anyone who criticizes Trump is to call them a “Trump hater.” I get it every day on Twitter. Fox News lays it on as thick as Stephen Miller’s spray on hair. It’s more indicative of a bankrupt argument than anything else. Can’t defend Trump’s behavior? Accuse his critics of being “haters.” It slams the door on any further conversation. Winning!

But I have a confession. They’re right! At least they are about me. I hate him. Yes, yes, YES. I really, truly HATE the man. And I admit that with no reservations. I hate him for the same reasons our parents and grandparents hated Mussolini and Hitler. He’s been a blight on everything this country had going for it before he came along.
.
So yes, I hate Trump. Just don’t mistake that for a bad thing. He may be the president, but he is also my ENEMY. And I won’t whitewash that fact.
.
What Trump’s defenders don’t understand, is that this kind of hate isn’t a blind hate. It’s focused, intense and justified. I don’t hate him because he’s conservative. Or because he’s a Republican. Or because he beat Hillary in the electoral college. I hate him for locking up children. I hate him for pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement. I hate him for his sycophancy towards our adversaries. I hate him for pulling us out of the JCPOA. I hate him for his slovenly, boorish, disgusting persona. I hate him for the selfishness, the greed, the lies, the corruption, the cronyism, the nepotism, the incompetence, the sexism, the racism... the FASCISM. Don’t even get me started.
.
What’s ironic, is that the very people who are today calling the left “haters” for our contempt of Trump, had no compunction about expressing raw, off-the-charts hate for President Obama. It was ugly, it was personal, and it was unrelenting. And damned few of them—Fox News included, could explain with any success just what it was about him that made them seethe so. But MAN, did they hate him. Gee... I wonder what it was? The tan suit maybe?
.
Yes, I HATE Trump. But not to the point that I let it cloud my vision. I nurture my contempt for him for a very valid reason: It motivates me. Unlike those who hated Barack Obama but never could explain why, the average liberal knows what it’s all about. It’s because we’ve learned over time, the difference between chicken salad and chicken shit. The right is still in the coop, up to their ankles in the latter, trying unsuccessfully to defend this vile train wreck of a human being.
