5 Most Outrageous Right-Wing Moments of the Week: 'Fox and Friends' Pushes Trump Off the Air During Interview
A busy week was punctuated by extremism, fear-mongering and a bizarre celebrity meltdown.
By Chris Sosa / AlterNet / April 27, 2018, 9:53 PM GMT

'Fox and Friends' Boots Trump from His Own Disastrous Interview

On Thursday, President Donald Trump made a surprise call to ‘Fox and Friends' that left the right-wing hosts squirming in their seats.

Trump’s interview was a manic and rambling monologue. He claimed that lawyer Michael Cohen only did a ”tiny, tiny little fraction” of his legal work, which undercuts any claim he could make to attorney-client privilege. The president also threw his fixer under the bus by attacking Cohen's character, suggesting that the attorney was pleading the Fifth due to his own business dealings.

This interview also marked the first time Trump said the words "Stormy Daniels" on-the-record as president.

Trump's time on the show ended when a visibly uncomfortable Brian Kilmeade suggested that the president "looks like you have a million things to do" and cut the interview short.

Media insiders suggest that the 'Fox and Friends' hosts shut the interview down after an intervention call was placed by a Trump handler from the White House.

Check out the interview in full below. [Video accessible via the end link or at https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... lu_Hgw60Ns]

Kanye West Joins the Alt-Right

Rap superstar Kanye West proclaimed his support for President Donald Trump after the 2016 election but wasn’t taken all that seriously. His comments occurred inside the context of a public breakdown that ended with the entertainer committed to a psychiatric hospital.

After West reemerged from a long Twitter hiatus, he released a series of characteristically bizarre tweets. But the musings took a dark turn when he tweeted out about his “love” for “brother” Donald Trump.

The backlash was immediate.

West responded by posing with a man making a seemingly white supremacist sign while wearing a signed Make America Great Again Hat.

Trump tweeted support for Kanye as well-known celebrities began unfollowing him on Twitter and publicly blasting the rapper.

West remains defiant.

NRATV Attacks Waffle House Hero Who Stopped Gunman

A bastion of extremism, NRATV outdid itself by attacking the man who saved lives during the Tennessee Waffle House massacre by physically attacking the gunman.

The network suggested that James Shaw would have been a more effective hero if he’d had a gun and been able to kill the attacker.

“Clearly if someone was there with a gun, we wouldn’t be having a manhunt right now,” host Grant Stinchfield said, suggesting Shaw’s duty included killing the attacker.

This might be the first time an NRA entity has expressed a vested interest in protecting the Second Amendment rights of Black men, since Shaw is a person of color.

The shooter was apprehended shortly after the interview.

Republican Congressman Tries to Stoke Fears of Murderous Socialists

Alabama GOP Rep. Mo Brooks decided to advance a new hypothesis about why Republicans are fleeing Congress in drove. Predictably, it had nothing to do with the impact of Trump’s presidency on their electability.

“There are a growing number of leftists who believe the way to resolve this is not at the ballot box but through threats and sometimes through violence and assassinations,” Brooks said.

You read that correctly: “violence and assassinations.” Brooks specifically referenced the “socialist Bernie Sanders wing of society.”

The congressman appears to be trying to link the attempted assassination of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) to the left-wing, conveniently ignoring the assassination attempt on former Democratic senator Gabriel Giffords.

Regardless of politics, Brooks' fearmongering lacks any basis in reality.

The last member of Congress successfully assassinated on U.S. soil was Democratic New York Senator Robert Kennedy.

That was in 1968.

A New Domestic Terror Threat Emerges from Misogyny

The deadly van attack that left 10 people dead in Toronto resulted in a disturbing word entering the public consciousness: “incel.”

Killer Alek Minassian posted on his Facebook that he pledged allegiance to the “Incel Rebellion” and wrote positively of the Santa Barbara shooter Eliott Roger.

“Incel” is short-hand for “involuntary celibacy.” Roger serves as an inspiration for “incel culture,” as he complained at length in a pathetic manifesto that women didn’t like him.

While the majority of online “incel” groups are reportedly made up of “sad and lonely” men without violent tendencies, a group of radicals has emerged.

This frightening subset, as described by Vox, “believe women being freed to make their own sexual choices, rather than being married off to men and made subordinate, is the reason women can choose to sleep with attractive men and ignore the so-called incels.”

Extremist “incel” members are proving to be a growing terror threat, with the latest killer serving as yet another idol to the disaffected, sexually frustrated misogynists.

I can imagine that panicked call hitting the Fox Switchboard: "Shuthimup, shuthimup, shuthimup!!!!!"

Another case of someone being released to early.

Oh yeah, black guy shoots white. Gets NRA support! Somewhere on here there's a thread about fantasies and lack of examples. Here's an example.

“There are a growing number of leftists who believe the way to resolve this is not at the ballot box but through threats and sometimes through violence and assassinations,” Brooks said.

Great argument for gun controls huh, right wingers? Can't have those leftists watering the Tree of Liberty.

Why would anyone, anywhere care what Kanye West has to say? People like Kanye are so far removed from reality, their opinions mean diddly-squat.

Here Are the 5 Most Outrageous Right-Wing Moments This Week: Trump Supporter Brings Gun to Santa Fe Shooting Scene
The far-right had a banner week.
By Chris Sosa / AlterNet / May 18, 2018, 4:26 PM GMT

Trump Supporter Brings a Gun to a School Shooting Scene

While a heavy police presence was investigating the scene at Santa Fe High School and children were still present, a MAGA-hat wearing Trump supporter decided he needed to "get to the school."

The man proceeded to march toward the school with a gun on his hip while holding a giant American flag.

He claimed to be "offering support" because a "God bless y'all" goes "a long way."

“This idiot is walking down the street with a damn pistol on his side where we just had kids get shot,” an unnamed man in the video said. “I’m a gun rights person, I have guns. But this idiot is walking down here and saying that he needs to make America great again. That’s not what America needs.”

Racist Lawyer Goes Viral for Career-Ending Meltdown

All of America now knows the name Aaron Schlossberg after the lawyer went on a racist rant in a New York City cafe that found the internet providing numerous examples of a years-long tirade against immigrants.

Soon enough, his hatred of Spanish speakers and Jews reached the security team of his office, which told the media he was immediately banned from the premises.

The last time we saw Schlossberg, he was hilariously fleeing a reporter on foot, bolting like a marathon runner with seemingly no awareness that his dramatic exit was yet another viral moment.

Trump Calls Undocumented Immigrants ‘Animals’

President Donald Trump told a room full of people that some undocumented immigrants "aren't people" but "animals."

As many eight-year-olds know, humans are in fact animals. But Trump's words echo a long history of using comparisons to other species as a means to disparage immigrants.

Trump later took to Twitter to state that the media was lying: he'd referred only to MS-13 gang members as "animals."

While its true that a preceding speaker made a reference to an MS-13 member, the president's remarks were anything but specific to MS-13.

"We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them — but we’re taking people out of the country," Trump said. "You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before."

Hate Group Leader Appointed to Religious Freedom Post

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins is no longer just the leader of the nation's most recognizable anti-LGBT hate organization, he now has the endorsement of the U.S. government.

Perkins was appointed as a commissioner on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

If this position sounds shady, that's because it is. The USCIRF is primarily a front organization for Evangelical Christian interests.

Nazis Run a Storefront in Virginia

Protesters have so far unsuccessfully been fighting to have a Nazi-run store in Fredericksburg, Virginia, leave town.

Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw has been no help.

“We cannot shut down a business for sentiments expressed on social media," she said. "Obviously, if it were a violent threat, it would be different. We haven’t found any violent threats.”

While the mayor is correct that she cannot shut down a business, she could at the very least condemn Nazi beliefs.

AlterNet reached out to Greenlaw's office for comment but received nothing in response.

A Mariachi band triumphantly played at a protest Friday outside the home of the Midtown lawyer caught on camera hurling racist insults at Spanish-speaking restaurant workers.

More than 100 people gathered in front of Aaron Schlossberg’s abode on West 60th Street near 10th Avenue to wave signs, chant “Ole, Ole! Throw him out!” and feast on free tacos.

“We’re basically clapping back at this fool,” said Chris Thompson, 40, an electrical engineer from Manhattan, who believes the lawyer should be disbarred.

“[It’s] ridiculous! This is a multilingual city. He should expect to hear different languages.”

On Tuesday, Schlossberg, 42, was caught in a hate-filled rant, threatening to have restaurant workers “kicked out of my country” for speaking Spanish at Fresh Kitchen on Madison Avenue near East 39th Street.

5 Most Outrageous Right-Wing Stories This Week: Far-Right Christians Think Trump Is Under Supernatural 'Luciferian' Attack
Opponents of the president may literally be the devil, some Evangelicals believe.
By Chris Sosa / AlterNet / May 25, 2018, 3:56 PM GMT

Evangelical Author Believes Trump Is Under Attack by “Luciferian” Beings

During an interview last week on Jim Bakker’s show, Evangelical author and radio host Paul McGuire made remarks that highlight the extent of extremism we’re seeing on the Christian far-right.

In a clip now gaining steam on the internet, McGuire goes all-in to defend Trump by claiming his opposition is literally demonic.

“The unprecedented attacks against President Trump and his administration are something that we’ve never seen before in all of human history,” McGuire said. “These unprecedented attacks on Donald Trump are part of the greatest spiritual battle in the history of mankind.”

If that doesn’t raise eyebrows, the outright conspiracy he peddles next will do the trick.

“There are people very high up in what is called the globalist occult or globalist Luciferian rulership system, and this rulership system consists of what used to be called the Pharaoh-God Kings,” he said. “[I]t’s what Aldous Huxley called ‘The Scientific Dictatorship,’ and these are advanced beings who know how to tap into supernatural multidimensional power and integrate it with science, technology, and economics.”

Tomi Lahren Says NFL Players Can ‘Pout’ About Police Brutality in Locker Room

Tomi Lahren is the right-wing’s most opportunistic talking head. She may even be lying about her entire worldview.

Her comments about the new NFL rule fining players for kneeling during the national anthem were among her most appalling yet.

“[T]hey can still pout in the locker room to their heart’s content, but at least we proud Americans don’t have to watch them disrespect our country on the field anymore,” she said.

By “they,” she means black players; by “pout,” she’s dismissing the gunning down of unarmed black Americans by the police.

“I love the First Amendment and I encourage these players to use their platforms to influence change, raise awareness or whatever it is they’re trying to do,” she added. “I’m just happy these divisive and disrespectful tantrums are no longer endorsed and applauded by the NFL. God bless America.”

Julian Assange Wants to Convince Democrats to Clear His Name

During an MSNBC interview, radio host Randy Credico said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange wants an audience with top House Intelligence Committee Democrat Adam Schiff.

Credico spoke with Schiff’s staff earlier this week to discuss his role in the alleged relationship between Roger Stone and Assange.

Assange apparently wants to provide information to prove he wasn’t colluding with Russia to Schiff.

Maybe Assange should start by convincing Ecuador to allow him back on the internet.

Trump Floods the Border with National Guard

The Pentagon has reportedly approved a Department of Homeland Security request to send more than 700 National Guard troops to the southern U.S. border.

This deployment is the latest move in the Trump administration’s all-out war on immigrants.

DHS secretary Kristjen Nielson said earlier this year that undocumented immigrants were a threat to children and the “rule of law.”

EPA Revealed to Spend Almost $3.5 Million on Pruitt Security

Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt can’t seem to stop himself from abusing taxpayers’ money.

CNN reported today that the bill for Pruitt’s personal security has nearly reached $3.5 million for the last year.

We have public data on the past nine EPA chief’s expenditures. Pruitt has outspent every last one of them.

OMG. The Luciferian remark reminded me of an encounter I had last week.

A man came into our store. We have a "rewards" points program so as a matter of course we ask everyone if they have points with us. This man said no and I jokingly said (as I do a lot of the time) "That's ok, we forgive you and will sell these things to you anyway". I always get a chuckle until that day. This man said "Only god can forgive. You can't forgive anything and shouldn't use that word".
Sheesh. I thought for a nanosecond that he was joking too. Soooooo, being the smartass I am, I said "If you believe in god". Then he said "You don't believe in god?" I said nope. As he walked out of the store, he said "Have a good afternoon, Beelzebub. You need to find god".

He didn't give me a chance to say anything else, but I have thought of a dozen things I could've said to him. "Mighty Christian of you" or "Bwahahahaha, you are damned" or ......

What a nutter. For a minute I thought I was in the Southern US :lol

Better you did not say anything back, as these religious fundamentalists think god is patting them on the back for being judgemental and speaking out. No reason or logical can reach the self-righteous unless it hurts them in some big way; even then they rationalize it in god's favor, because in actuality they fear god more than caring about their neighbors.

Ok, this is eerie. I am playing "Text Twist" online. After I read your reply, my next word was "sinned". How's that for timing? :rollin

You probably should have told the guy to read his Bible. There's probably fifty times where both God and Jesus tell people to forgive their transgressors. Of course, being a "Good Christian" he'll have all sorts of reasons why they didn't really mean it. In fact, just ask him what "seventy times seven" means to him.

Matthew 18:22. When asked how many times you should forgive a transgressor Jesus says you should forgive him not seven time but seventy times seven and then some. Key to the whole thing is Jesus uses the word "forgive" as to what you are to do. There are numerous other places in the Bible where both he and God tell people to "forgive" transgressions against them.

Yeah your supposed to forgive all sorts of things. Murder, mayhem, steak medium well instead of medium. Not sure if it applies to not having a store rewards program though.
