Washington (CNN) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was confronted at a restaurant in Kentucky on Friday, according to CNN affiliate WLKY.

According to WLKY, McConnell, a Republican representing Kentucky, was dining at Havana Rumba in Louisville, Kentucky, with his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, when a group of men approached the couple.

"Why don't you get out of here? Why don't you leave the entire country?" one of the men yelled at McConnell, WLKY reported.

"The leader and Secretary Chao enjoyed their meal in Louisville last night and they appreciate those who spoke up against incivility," said Stephanie Penn, McConnell's press secretary, in a statement to CNN. "They hope other patrons weren't too inconvenienced by left-wing tantrums. As the leader often says, the Senate will not be intimidated by the antics of far-left protesters.

You mean McConnell's buddies "The Proud Boys" weren't there to protect him.

Nope. I mean messing around with somebody else's business (the restaurant) because of a public hissy fit.

How do we know this guy was "left wing"?
The calm in the Turtle's face could have been because he knew that this "proud boy" just acted.
Remember, it's close to the mid terms.

WHY should "the left" always be expected to take the high road?

Acting like "the mob" merely loses more votes.

Oscar is right. There's something vaguely satisfying about being able to return to politicians some of the discomfort they inflict on their constituents but it also seems unsportsmanlike to attack someone away from the arena - not unlike a fan who attacks an opposing hockey player in the parking lot after the game. Basically in private settings they should be left alone unless they draw attention to themselves....a'la Pence taking a bow at the play.

Despite that I don't fault restaurants who refuse to serve politicians are in the wrong. There is a difference between not harassing them in private areas and refusing to do business with them.

And according to SCOTUS any business can refuse service to a politician because of his "beliefs".

The "right" has its "mob" days too. Remember Charlottesville?

This whole Democrats=Mobs is just BS.

So you counter it by pointing out the real world.

Doesn't work on the tens of millions of USians who believe the fantasy. It's like religion.

This leftist 'mob' business and 'violent' left are just the usual reversal - republicans have often been called those things - so they turn it around; especially now toward midterms, but sosdd.

On one hand I think it better not to start this sort of public shaming when people are outside the political arena (to borrow Jim's phrase), as it just gives reps something negative to point out and play victim. That said, I would have to put tape over my mouth or have complete self-control to stop from booing or saying some choice words to him in the arena or out lol
