Now that Biden has announced his VP pick it seems reasonable to have a thread full of the miscellaneous stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else. So let's start with:

Biden VP pick: Kamala Harris chosen as running mate

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has named Kamala Harris as his running mate - the first black woman and South Asian American in the role.

Once a rival for the top job, the California senator of Indian-Jamaican heritage had long been considered the front-runner for the number two slot.

The former California attorney general has been urging police reform amid nationwide anti-racism protests.

Mr Biden will face President Donald Trump in the election on 3 November.

After Tuesday's announcement, Ms Harris tweeted that Mr Biden "can unify the American people because ...

Fox Hosts Walk Back Jeanine Pirro's Bonkers Prediction That Biden Won't Be on the Ticket Because 'Something Is Going to Happen'

President Donald Trump and his allies are scrambling to find an effective attack message against Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), whom Democratic nominee Joe Biden officially introduced as his running mate at a joint event on Wednesday.

Co-hosts on Fox News' The Five criticized what was largely seen as a strong event, but an offhand comment by ...

I think it does - after all, he's admitted that he's doing so in order to block voting by mail

Trump says he’ll block aid from Postal Service: “That means you can’t have universal mail-in voting”
Trump appears to publicly admit he refuses to approve USPS aid in order to sabotage plans to expand mail-in voting

IGOR DERYSH

President Donald Trump on Thursday told Fox Business that he will continue to block aid to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), publicly acknowledging that doing so would undermine states' plans to expand mail-in voting for Election Day.

House Democrats have pushed to include $25 billion in aid to the USPS and $3.5 billion in supplemental election funding as part of the next phase of coronavirus relief, but Trump has vowed not to approve the emergency funds.

"They need that money in order to have the Post Office work, so it can take all of these millions of ballots," he told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday. "If they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting. Because they're not equipped."

Trump made a similar comment during his Wednesday news briefing on the coronavirus pandemic.

"They don't have the money to do the universal mail-in voting. So therefore, they can't do it, I guess," he said. "Are they going to do it even if they don't have the money?"

The remarks sparked alarm among journalists.

"Trump is admitting he wants to obstruct mail-in voting," CNN host Jim Sciutto tweeted. "Nice of the president to openly announce he's trying to sabotage the election," ...

he should not be able to do this. this should be something that only congress can do. but shutting down the PO stands as much a chance of leading to his defeat as to his victory, imo. mail in ballots tend to favor Republicans, historically.

Saw a picture of mailboxes being loaded up and hauled away in Oregon (I think). People are trying to get the word out to deliver your mail-in vote to the elections office or clerks office near you. There must be a way to go around this treasonous action by Trump. I feel the most sorry for folks who depend on the USPS for meds and medical devices, and those whose government checks are mailed to them (SS benefits, disability etc.). Not everyone has direct deposit. This will be a disaster imo.

Here is what was on my Twitter feed:

Don’t mail ballots in. Drop at board of elections, or your City Clerk's Office. This is an inside tip from a friend who is a postal worker. "Can’t say any more than that."

Additionally, I would ask for some sort of receipt or proof that I handed it in.

I've been waiting to find out if I have to request a mail in ballot or not. Not! :) We used a county drop box for our primary ballots. I may hand deliver directly to the BOE in November, it's really not that far from me.

New Jersey general election to be conducted mostly through mail-in ballots

Murphy set to announce vote-by-mail election for November 3

By David Wildstein, August 13 2020 12:43 pm

Gov. Phil Murphy will order a general election conducted almost entirely through vote-by-mail ballots and an announcement could come as early as tomorrow, the New Jersey Globe has learned.

That means nearly 6.2 million voters would automatically receive VBM ballots for the November general election, with limited in-person polling locations available for voters requiring special assistance or for the casting of provisional ballots.

BREAKING: The Postal service is now telling state officials in Pennsylvania -- the most critical swing state in November's election -- that it can't deliver the mail quickly enough for the current vote by mail plan. This is a 9-alarm fire, folks.

U.S. Postal Service warns Pennsylvania that mail-in ballots may be delivered too late
A group of Pennsylvania voters are asking state officials to extend the counting deadline beyond Election Day.

The U.S. Postal Service says it's unlikely there will be enough time to request, complete and return mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania to be counted for the Nov. 3 presidential election.

Thomas J. Marshall, general counsel and executive vice president of the agency warned in a July 29 letter to State Secretary Kathy Boockvar of "a risk that ballots requested near the deadline under state law will not be returned by mail in time to be counted under your laws as we understand them."

The letter was revealed Thursday in a filing that's part of an ongoing lawsuit by a group of Pennsylvania voters who want state officials to extend the counting deadline beyond Election Day as a result of anticipated U.S. Postal Service delays for mail-in ballots.

The USPS did not immediately respond to request for comment Thursday night.

State officials, including Boockvar, said in the filing Thursday that ...

Judge Orders Trump Campaign To Produce Evidence Of Voter Fraud In Pennsylvania
The judge's order forces the Trump campaign to try to back up President Donald Trump's false claims about massive voter fraud in postal voting.

A federal judge in Pennsylvania told the Trump campaign and the Republican Party that they must produce evidence they have of vote-by-mail fraud in the state by Friday.

The judge’s order, in a high-profile case about vote-by-mail in the battleground state, essentially forces the Trump campaign to try to back up President Donald Trump’s false claims about massive voter fraud in postal voting. The federal lawsuit filed in Pittsburgh claims that as voters jumped to make use of the greatly broadened eligibility for mail-in ballots during the June 2 primary, practices and procedures by elections officials ran afoul of state law and the state and federal constitutions.

“The Court finds that instances of voter fraud are relevant to the claims and defenses in this case,” District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan wrote on Thursday, telling Republicans that they need to provide evidence of fraud to the Democratic Party and the Sierra Club, which are part of the lawsuit.

The Democrats had asked for ...
