Putin’s ‘Iron Doll’ Says Russia ‘Will Have to Think Whether to Re-Install’ Trump ‘Again’: Report
David Badash

A political commentator and television host on Russian state TV appears to have suggested Russia installed Donald Trump as president in 2016, attempted to do so in 2020, and has yet to decide whether or not to do so again.

Russia “will have to think whether to re-install him again as the American president. We haven’t decided yet,” declared ...

McConnell Backs GOP Candidate Who Called for ‘Total Cleansing’ and Allegedly Threatened to Blow His Wife’s ‘Brains Out’
David Badash

Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday endorsed Herschel Walker, who is being strongly backed by Donald Trump in his 2022 run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Politico reports.

Saying that Walker, a retired NFL player, “is the only one who can unite the party, defeat Senator Warnock, and help us take back the Senate,” McConnell ignored the allegations against Walker, including from his now-ex-wife who said that when they were married he repeatedly threatened violence against her.

“I’m going to blow your f’ing brains out,” Cindy Grossman, Walker’s ex-wife, told ABC News her then-husband said to her as he pointed a pistol at her head, the AP reports. She was forced to obtain a protective order against him. Her sister in an affidavit said Walker“stated unequivocally that ...

Don't believe Steve Bannon: Justice Department exposes desperate ploy to derail Jan. 6 hearings
Usually arrogant and full of bravado, Bannon is suddenly scrambling after seeing how successful the hearings are

By HEATHER DIGBY PARTON

The latest January 6 committee hearing is scheduled for tomorrow and it promises to be dramatic. From what we can gather, this will be the hearing that grapples with the actual violence of that day and will explore what Trump and his accomplices did to bring it about. The committee apparently plans to discuss the participation of armed militia types, some of whom have already been charged with seditious conspiracy by the Justice Department.

Tuesday's questioning will be led by Stephanie Murphy, D-Fl., and Jamie Raskin, D-Md., and there will be live witnesses — although only one has been named, a former spokesman for the right-wing militia group Oath Keepers. Jason Van Tatenhove will reportedly discuss the group's ...

Trump Sought to Conceal Plans for March to Capitol, Panel Says
Luke Broadwater and Alan Feuer

President Donald J. Trump attempted to make the Jan. 6, 2021, march on the Capitol appear spontaneous even as he and his team intentionally assembled and galvanized a violence-prone mob to disrupt certification of his electoral defeat, the House committee investigating the attack showed on Tuesday.

“POTUS is going to have us march there/the Capitol,” Kylie Jane Kremer, an organizer of the “Save America” rally on Jan. 6, wrote in a Jan. 4 text shown by the panel on Tuesday as it detailed Mr. Trump’s efforts to gather his backers in Washington for a final, last-ditch effort to overturn his loss. Ms. Kremer added that Mr. Trump was “going to just call for it ‘unexpectedly.’”

Mr. Trump weighed announcing the move, according to documents obtained from the National Archives, which provided the investigators with a draft tweet that said: “I will be making a Big Speech at 10AM on January 6th at the Ellipse (South of the White House). Please arrive early, massive crowds expected. March to ...

He really has "friends"?

Trump seeking input from friends on how Jan. 6 hearings are making him look
CNN's "New Day" correspondent Kristin Holmes says Trump has been "riveted" by the hearings

By TOM BOGGIONI

On CNN's "New Day," correspondent Kristin Holmes reported that Donald Trump has been "riveted" by the televised hearings being conducted by the House select committee looking into the Jan 6th insurrection and that he has been badgering friends and aides about how he is coming across in them.

Speaking with host John Berman, Holmes also stated that Trump's inner circle is worried he is obsessing over the hearings when they would prefer that he be concentrating on the upcoming midterm elections.

"Trump is always watching, we are told, riveted, according to new CNN reporting," host Berman began. "Trump was particularly angry after hearing his former staffers and White House counsel."

Asking Holmes, "What have you learned?" she replied, "We've heard he's always following these hearings and that's much to the chagrin of those around him who would hope that he would focus on the November midterms."

"But behind closed doors he's always talking about these hearings, asking those around him how they think they're playing out," she continued. "In his speeches and rallies he prattles on about the committee, attacking them; his social media page is a never-ending rant, essentially just attacking leaders of the committee and even talking about ...

MAGA Rioters ‘Both Wept’ as They Were Sentenced to Over 3 Years in Prison for J6 Violence: Report

Bob Brigham

Two supporters of Donald Trump cried in court on Friday as they were sentenced for their role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“Two New York state men who led a mob that overwhelmed police at the perimeter of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — then bodysurfed over the top of the crowd at a building entrance and pepper-sprayed officers — were both sentenced Friday to 44 months in prison,” The New York Times reported. “Cody Mattice, 29, of Greece, N.Y., and James Mault, 30, of Brockport, N.Y., both wept as they stood before Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell and asked for leniency, apologizing for their actions and saying they hoped to return soon to their families and young children. But Howell noted that prosecutors had already cut them a reasonable deal by dropping charges that could have led to far more prison time, and she imposed the sentences requested by the government. Only four other Jan. 6 defendants have been sentenced to longer prison terms.”

Judge Howell said, “they were not patriots on Jan. 6, and no one who broke the police lines and stopped the democratic process was a patriot that day.”

Mattice reportedly took video of the two.

“Text messages obtained by the FBI showed that ...

Rudy Giuliani ‘Most Likely to Be Prosecuted’ for His Role in Georgia Election Scheme: Legal Expert
Travis Gettys

Rudy Giuliani faces significant legal jeopardy in Georgia for his role in former President Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election results, according to a legal expert.

The former New York City mayor has been ordered to testify before a special grand jury in Atlanta about his efforts to corrupt the presidential election, and Dave Aronberg, the state attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida, told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Giuliani should start preparing for criminal charges.

“I think of all the people who are being targeted by the grand jury in Fulton County, it is Rudy Giuliani who is most likely to be prosecuted,” Aronberg said. “That’s because my counterpart up there in Atlanta, Fani Willis, previously said she is reviewing the making of false statements to state and local governmental bodies.”

“Yeah, he went before the committees in the Georgia legislature and lied to their faces,” Aronberg continued. “He went on a misinformation tour around the country, but in Georgia he said that more than 10,000 dead people voted. He said that poll workers were counting fake ballots out of suitcases. Those false statements made to those legislative bodies could get you up to five years in state prison under Georgia law, so that’s what he is facing, and that is why, if ...

'You'll be praised': Audio of Trump call with Georgia elections investigator offers new details
"You have the most important job in the country right now," Trump told the investigator leading a Cobb County signature audit.

Julia Jester

President Donald Trump urged Georgia's chief elections investigator to find "dishonesty" that could help overturn the state's election results, framing her work as a matter of national importance, according to audio of a December phone call obtained from the secretary of state's office Monday.

Officials discovered the recording of the conversation between Trump and Frances Watson, the lead elections investigator for Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in a trash folder on Watson's device while responding to a public records request, according to a source familiar with the internal process.

The Wall Street Journal was first to report the audio.

"You have the most important job in the country right now," Trump told Watson, who was leading an audit of absentee ballot signatures in Cobb County at the time, according to the audio.

"Because if we win Georgia ... the people of Georgia are so angry at what happened to me, they know I won," he continued, repeating the false claim that he won the state.

President Joe Biden won Georgia by 12,670 votes, according Georgia's certified election results.

"When the right answer comes out, you'll be praised," Trump told Watson at another point in the call, adding, "People will say 'great,' because that's what it's about, the ability to check and to make it right, because everyone knows it's wrong."

Earlier reporting by NBC News and other news organizations, including The Washington Post, misquoted the exact words Trump used to urge Watson to look for fraud based on Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs' account of Watson's recollection of the conversation.

"After hearing the tape, it's clear that [Watson's] recollection accurately portrayed the president's assertions that there was fraud to uncover and that ...

Desi Lydic Demands To Know Why Marjorie Taylor Greene Isn't On Jan. 6 Panel
"The Daily Show" correspondent fabulously "Foxsplains" in mocking the conservative news channel.

Ron Dicker

Desi Lydic parodied a Fox News host trying to explain the Jan. 6 hearings ― and she asked a heckuva question about the House select committee investigating President Donald Trump and his insurrection-abetting cronies. (Watch the video below.)

“Everyone on this Sham-uary 6 sham-mittee is anti-Trump,” the “Daily Show” correspondent griped in a comedy clip posted Monday. “Where are the pro-Trump Jan. 6 people? Lauren Boebert. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The QAnon shaman. What does he have to do to get on the committee? Storm the Capitol again?”

“Why does the committee only want to know what Trump did on Jan. 6?” she continued. “What about what he did on Feb. 6? Or April 10? There’s so many days.”

Fox News, unlike other major news networks, has mostly avoided airing the hearings live. But its hosts nevertheless had plenty of opinions about the House panel’s probe, as you can see from the clips Lydic chose.

However, some Fox News personalities like Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier have actually voiced support for committee findings.

Man who stormed Capitol with gun gets longest prison term
Michael Kunzelman

A Texas man convicted of storming the U.S. Capitol with a holstered handgun, helmet and body armour was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in prison, the longest sentence imposed so far among hundreds of Capitol riot cases.
Prosecutors said Guy Reffitt told fellow members of the Texas Three Percenters militia group that he planned to drag House Speaker Nancy Pelosi out of the Capitol building by her ankles, "with her head hitting every step on the way down," according to a court filing.

Reffitt's prison sentence -- seven years and three months -- is two years more than the previous longest prison sentence for a Capitol riot defendant. But it's less than half the length of the 15-year prison term requested by a federal prosecutor, who called Reffitt a domestic terrorist and said he wanted to ...

From the article:

Reffitt's 19-year-old son, Jackson, testified that his father told him and his sister, then 16, that they would be traitors if they reported him to authorities and warned them that "traitors get shot."

Ex-cop sentenced to 7 years for Jan. 6 Capitol riot
By Joseph Wilkinson

A Virginia police officer was sentenced Thursday to seven years and three months in prison for his actions at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Thomas Robertson, 49, was off duty when he drove with fellow cop Jacob Fracker from their tiny town of Rocky Mount, Va., to Washington, D.C.

After listening to some speeches near the Washington Monument, the two men and a friend joined the mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol and attempted to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.

In April, Robertson was convicted of six crimes: obstruction of Congress, interfering with officers during a civil disorder, entering a restricted area while carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted area while carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly or disruptive conduct inside the Capitol building, and obstruction.

The “dangerous weapon” that Robertson carried was a large wooden stick, which prosecutors said he used to block Capitol police and other law enforcement officers at the Capitol. He was convicted of ....

Report: FBI delivers subpoenas to several Pa. Republican lawmakers

The FBI has delivered subpoenas to several Pennsylvania lawmakers after they confiscated Republican State Rep. Scott Perry's phone as a part of a probe into a scheme to install alternate Trump electors.

According to PennLive, agents visited several Pa. House and Senate Republican lawmaker's offices at the State Capitol.

Right now, it remains unclear which lawmakers were paid visits.

This comes just one day after Perry had his cell phone seized as a part of the Department of Justice's criminal investigation.
