And more on Velma ....

Conservative Pundits Are Melting Down Over Velma Being A Lesbian In New 'Scooby-Doo' Movie

John Sundholm

Bespectacled Velma from Scooby-Doo has long been assumed to be a lesbian even if the original show never addressed it.

But the new Amazon Prime movie Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! takes Velma's lesbianism from apocryphal to canonical giving her a female love interest and everything.

And, surprise!

Conservatives absolutely cannot deal. They've been taking to the internet and the television airwaves to decry this as some sort of civilization-ending affront.

Christian author Raymond Arroyo joined virulent homophobe Laura Ingraham on her Fox News show to ...

We've always known that Velma was gay, Scooby was a stoner (always had a serious case of the munchies), so was Shaggy, and Fred and Daphne were getting it on.

Google celebrates Scooby-Doo’s Velma being a lesbian with adorable Easter egg

ASYIA IFTIKHAR

Google has joined in with celebrations after Scooby-Doo’s Velma was confirmed to be a lesbian.

If you type “Velma” or “Velma Dinkley” into the Google search bar, a delightful array of confetti will fall from the top, alongside lesbian Pride flags and rainbow Pride flags.

Google’s Velma Easter egg comes after the new Scooby-Doo animation, Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo, saw Velma being her true lesbian self and crushing hard on Coco Diablo, another female character in the film.

The film could be summed up as “Velma has gay panic” – highlights include ...

Chile issues first non-binary national identity document
Eva Vergara

Shane Cienfuegos became the first person in Chile's history to receive a non-binary national identity document Friday.
Cienfuegos, 29, who heads social intervention activities for the Trans Diversity Organization of Chile, obtained the document after a nine-year bureaucratic and legal battle.

"This isn't my victory; it's a collective victory," Cinefuegos told reporters in showing off the identity card, which has an "X" for the Sex entry rather than male or female.

Argentina was the first country in Latin America to recognize non-binary people in legal documents in July 2021. Mexico and Colombia followed, but like Chile they give such recognition only to people who win a court ruling.

Around the world, several countries recognize non-binary people in identity documents, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. U.S. citizens have been able to select "X" as their gender marker on passports since April.

Lorena Lorca, Cinefuegos' lawyer, said this marked the first case in Chile of someone receiving a document with the letter "X" in a country that does not legally recognize non-binary people. Lorca said there are 60 similar cases in Chile, of which seven have received favourable sentences.

Cienfuegos said no one should have to wait such a long time "to receive legal recognition of something that you are."

Social Security Will Now Allow People to Select Their Gender in Records
The new policy enables transgender Americans to change their records to reflect how they identify themselves.

Eduardo Medina

The Social Security Administration announced on Wednesday that people will now be allowed to select the sex that best aligns with their gender identity in records, a policy change intended to be more inclusive of transgender Americans.

The agency said it would now accept people’s self-identified gender identity of male or female, even if their identity documents show otherwise, and it is exploring a future policy that would allow for an “X” sex designation for people who do not identify as either male or female. The Social Security Administration had promised in March that the new policy would be in effect by fall.

The acting commissioner of the agency, Kilolo Kijakazi, said in a news release that ....

For the record, the US allows people to do that with passports and, speaking from memory, many states allow individuals to amend the gender marker on their drivers licenses and even birth certificates.
