Last night, Donald Trump was finally banned from Twitter for good, his mouthpiece to the masses muzzled for inciting violence and egging on his rioting supporters during and after Tuesday’s astonishing Capitol Hill siege.

The president’s terminally online son, Donald Trump Jr., predictably took to his Twitter account and melted down in hysterical fashion, moaning that we were now living in Orwell’s 1984 and that free speech no longer “existed” in America.


Sadly for Don Jr., his father agreed to the Twitter Terms of Service when he signed up for the site, and if he wanted to not get banned, he should have simply not used his Twitter account to incite a lynch mob against his own vice-president.

Online misinformation about election fraud plunged 73 percent after several social media sites suspended President Trump and key allies last week, research firm Zignal Labs has found, underscoring the power of tech companies to limit the falsehoods poisoning public debate when they act aggressively.

The new research by the San Francisco-based analytics firm reported that conversations about election fraud dropped from 2.5 million mentions to 688,000 mentions across several social media sites in the week after Trump was banned from Twitter.

Stripped of his magical Twitter super-powers, Donald Trump has now been reduced to trolling his ever-expanding list of enemies through paltry and less prominent press releases that create a media filter between the humiliated former president and his adoring base.

Besides creating a large time lag between when Trump is initially offended by a politician, celebrity, or media outlet and when he is able to shoot back with some bullying, semi-coherent response to his detractors, the limited effectiveness of press releases in disseminating his unfiltered vitriolic messages has reduced his overall media presence outside the confines of the extremist right-wing news outlets frequented by his base.

It’s not surprising, therefore, that Trump’s latest jeremiad targeting the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal, the Rupert Murdoch-owned financial newspaper of record, has attracted so little attention.

The financial world conservative intellectuals at the Journal had published an editorial earlier this week urging the Republican Party to move on from the candidate that somehow managed to help their party lose control of both houses of Congress and the White House in the course of four short years.

It is the sort of sensible response to having their favored party bet on a losing horse, albeit one who continues to scream “I won!” while finishing furlongs behind the actual winner like some ersatz Mr. Ed.

Love the fact that they reminded us that he's a stable genius

You know, we hear more about Grabem in the news than we do about Joe Biden, the President of the United States. As long as people of all political stripes hang on every fart as though it's a message from God he's going to wield major power.

If Obama pipes up about something it has to be pretty spectacular to even get reported and, if reported, it's three inches below the fold. Grabem gets the headlines.

America would be best served by letting him fade away into obscurity. Most of the time the right wing can't remember yesterday let alone four years ago. They'll have found a new toy by the time the next election rolls around unless everyone keeps treating him like a president-in-waiting on his bad days and like he's still president on his good ones..

I have not found that to be true in the US, but maybe it is true in Canada.

I'm talking about the American news, macro. I really do see more about Grabem than Biden even on CNN and MSNBC.
