Biden urged to fire entire Postal Service board for complicity in 'devastating arson' by Trump and DeJoy

Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. of New Jersey on Monday urged President Joe Biden to terminate all six sitting members of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors for their "silence and complicity" in the face of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and former President Donald Trump's full-scale assault on the beloved government mail agency.

"I am calling on President Biden to fire the entire Postal Board of Governors for their silence and complicity in Trump and DeJoy's attempts to subvert the election and destroy the Post Office."
—Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr.

"Through the devastating arson of the Trump regime, the USPS Board of Governors sat silent," Pascrell wrote in a letter to Biden. "Their dereliction cannot now be forgotten. Therefore, I urge you to fire the entire ...

I don't disagree with this. Someone needs to be held accountable (besides Trump), at the very least for being silent.

If the board won't dump DeJoy, something drastic HAS to be done.

But I find it strange that Biden can fire the entire board and not DeJoy.

It's because the Post Master General is a creature of the Board. It's the Board that elects/removes him, not the President. Of course Presidents can stack the Board in order to get what they want.

I think jim has it right.
the board serves at the privilege of the president, but not the chair.

Right, but isn't the chair of a board still a board member? Aren't they literally "chairman OF the board"?

I can't answer that question, but I think that once a chair is appointed, the only way to remove the chair is with a new board. so, this is an "end around", since DeJoy won't resign. he will have to be voted out.

I don't know if he is comparable to the Chairman of the Board or the CEO, who often is not a Board member but reports to the board.

Don't know about the Postal Service but in a normal company the CEO may or may not be a member of the Board. And if he is, he may or may not be the Chairman of the Board. So removing him from his Board positions doesn't remove him from his corporate role.

Think he was a major Trump donor.

But regardless of whether or not Trump nominated him it's still up to the board to appoint him.

More like a bag man for the GOP.

Washington Post: DeJoy reimbursed former employees for GOP donations

Former employees of the company that US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy previously ran told The Washington Post they were pressured to donate to GOP candidates and then reimbursed through bonuses.

I'm frustrated that we're still stuck with all these USPS problems.
