Rejecting that view, the Biden administration opinion said that a request for the tax information first lodged in 2019 by the House Ways and Means Committee was legitimate and that the Treasury Department had no valid grounds to refuse it.

Federal judge tosses Trump lawsuit to block income taxes from being released to Congress

A federal judge late Tuesday threw out former President Donald Trump's lawsuit seeking to block a House committee from getting his tax returns.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden said efforts by Trump's lawyers to block the handover were wrong on the law.

"A long line of Supreme Court cases requires great deference to facially valid congressional inquiries. Even the special solicitude accorded former presidents does not alter the outcome," McFadden wrote.

McFadden put the ruling on hold for 14 days to give Trump's legal team time to appeal.

No question he'll file an appeal. Whether the Supremes will hear it is another matter (although given the stacked Court who knows).

the SCOTUS generally only hears cases that are in the public interest.
Trump is no longer a public person, and this case is not a public case.
