From one hon to another - Hi Neighbor
I find it to be a strange mish-mosh of old and new alongside one another. I am originally from NYC so expected it to be more like that, it is not. Nothing is really close by either, you have to drive all over to get anything, at least where I am. Lots of good restaurants though. Driving here is worse than DC and I thought that was bad - I gave my son my car and said no way is this 'Nervous Nellie' driver to begin with, going to drive anywhere here. I would be lost in NY minute. Not even in an emergency, as I would become the emergency.
I live in a lovely and friendly neighborhood so that is a plus. Maybe when my knees get better I can explore the finer points of Baltimore, but as of now it is nowhere as convenient or have the variety of stores where I used live. Also, most stores and medical facilities were nearby, not much more than 20 minutes away, not so here. As an aside, my son and his wife love it here, they moved from DC. They are out and about and into so many activities, and have already gotten a whole network of new friends. So I am careful not to share my less than glowing views, especially since they are doing everything under the sun to make me feel comfortable and welcomed.
May take me awhile to become a Baltimorean although, maybe not an avid Orioles fan, but who knows that may change -. I did watch a game and found myself rooting for them
